| Bodhi had episodes of reverse sneezing these last couple of months. Two days ago, he had a bad one that lasted a minute. Then yesterday, he reverse sneezed for 20 minutes! This caused him to have a strong nose bleed which we couldn't stop.
We went off to emergency vet hospital and waited in the parking lot for four hours while they examined him. The vet said it could be allergies, a foxtail or foreign object up his nose, or some kind of tumor.
Today, he is subdued, but still bleeding a little.
Tomorrow, I am taking him to his regular vet. She says she might be able to figure it out with an X-ray and physical exam. I am hoping for the best, a diagnosis of allergies because we have had a lot of pollen in the air this spring. |

| Ami gets bouts of reverse sneezing when allergens are high. Or when he sticks his head into dusty, moldy places. Hope Bodhi is the same! |

| Foxtail can get to be wicked, has your vet ruled this out?? _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| At vet’s now. She is going to X-ray his nose, but that won’t show if he’s got a foreign object up there. |

| X-ray doesn't show a mass or bone deformity. She said only one nostril was bleeding and she dripped epinephrine on it. We are going home with antibiotics and hoping for the best. If it doesn't stop, she said the next step is a CAT scan. |

| I don't know if this link is overly sensationalizing the issue but I've read others that stress that the symptoms you're describing are serious.
Bleeding for three days is serious, whatever the cause. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Kye has hard core allergies and we deal with reverse sneezing. I haven't had him bleed from it though unless he just bashes his head into the ground enough to rub his nose raw. continual bleeding would definitely have me concerned. CAT scans are pricey usually but I wouldn't want it to continue on for too long. If it is something like a foxtail it will just keep digging deeper with time making extraction much more complicated. _________________ |

| The bleeding stopped after 4 days. The vet gave him antibiotics 2X a day for a week. Tests all came back normal. He was subdued during this, but his enthusiasm has returned. He’s eating and drinking normally. It’s a mystery to me, unless the high pollen count got to him. |

| The bleeding started again, a month after the first incident. I don't know what triggered this one. We woke up to blood everywhere. Now Bodhi's back on antibiotics. In three days, we start cortisone. The bleeding has slowed down considerably today. The vet is sending us to a specialist, but we can't get an appointment for a month. |

| Ach I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you come to a good resolution soon. That's got to be frustrating. Having a dog who can't tell you that something's wrong and what it is is especially frustrating.
Hope you can get in to the specialist without a whole lot of waiting ... _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Oh no. It's nuts how long it takes to get into a vet. Our normal vet is 2 weeks out pretty much all the time. Specialists at the university are several months now. I don't understand it here. We have more vets now than we ever did here but you used to be able to get in the day or at least within a couple days and now it's weeks out. Can't decide if everyone's pets are really that unhealthy, lot of people are just being hypochondriacs about every little thing their animal does, or the vets are just taking their sweet time and only getting through half the animals in a day that they used to. _________________ |
