Looking into order a harness and line to start bikejoring when we lose our snow, but I don't know which length to get! The scootering package from alpine outfitters has a 6ft line, but I think that with the added angle of using a bike, and for my own ability to have a longer reaction time to sudden turns or stops, that a longer line would work better. Thoughts or suggestions?

I went long. Mine are about 14ft out in front of me (10ft lines and about 4ft of bungee attachment). Shorter lengths caused me to run into them when they would stop suddenly to pee. The longer one can get tangled under the wheel if you're not keeping an eye on their momentum but I find it much easier to handle. Plus I have four big dogs hooked up. Anything shorter than 10ft and they get too close to Coco and bad things happen.

Mines around 14 feet, I have one that is around 10. I am still scared if she stops suddenly I crash into her. Does this feeling ever go away?

So, if you're using a 14ft line, did you buy a 10ft line AND a 4ft bungee/shock line and snap them together? Make your own? Or did you find a 14ft skijoring line somewhere?

I snapped them together. Well my hubby did.

well, I bought 2 and did that to one.

I use a regular 8ft section gangline then add on 4ft tuglines. Don't use a bungee at all, I find it to be annoying on a bike and useless. Some people use a section of PVC pipe and attach it to their bike and run the line through that - avoids tangles if your dog might stop without warning. Happened to me lots, but I still don't use the pipe, haha! You just have to pay SUPERCLOSE attention at every minute.

One time I looked off at the scenery only to look back to see the line wrapping around my front tire! I stopped just in time, whew! And it was wrapped around the tire so tight, it almost flattened the tire and was really hard to pry off!
