Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Why? Why at 11:38 in the evening, does this guy, Ami again, just have to mess with a porcupine. A while bunch in his chin. Really, really close together. No way I can get them out. Vet opens at 6AM for emergencies. He can't sleep cause he can't lay his head down. And he bolts if I try to coax him into lying on his side. So he paces. Them comes to me, pleading eyes, help me. Breaks my heart

All better. Just brought him home and he's out. I was a little freaky about the whole thing as my regular very was off today and they had a temporary relief vet that I didn't know. But, she "stopped by the office and they were busy" so she decided to do Ami. Eased my mind even though I trust that she would leave her practise to someone incapable.

Awww poor boy. Thankfully ive never had a run in with a porcupine but my luck it would happen to squirt.

I don't understand why they never learn. Glad we don't have those here. Though plenty of skunks to make us all miserable when someone gets into one of those.

Unfortunately, we have the skunks, too. Back in early March, when COVID-19 was first appearing on the east coast, one of the first things I stocked up on was quarts of peroxide and a huge box of baking soda! With Ami's long, thick coat, it takes 2 quarts of peroxide for one skunking.

Wayne and I are both a bit worried. A couple of times, Ami has just shrieked in pain. First I thought it was how back trying to stand up but the second time he wasn't trying to move at all. I hate watching dogs come out of sedation. It's something every time. Archer high temp and very rapid heart beat. Ami just gets weird. Last time he was hell bent on getting out of the house and taking off down the road. Z'ev had a very low heart beat, slow very shallow breathing and cold. Sometimes during that episodes we thought he was dead!
