my dog is on his 3rd day of post care leg surgery and we are currently using the cone. we saw that the cone made him uncomfortable so i'm thinking of switching into this product that i saw on the other forum https://www.licksleeve.com/products/lick-sleeve has anyone tried to use this before? appreciate all the help! I think I'd first see if he needs the cone.  A short experiment leaving it off to see if he licks the wound.  My Alaskan didn't so the cone went back to the vet posthaste.

It'd help if you'd give us an idea of what the surgery was and how long you're looking at restraining him from licking.  If you're looking at possibly 2 weeks I'd say stick with the irritating cone, if you're looking at longer then the licksleeve is possibly something to consider.  Donut collars are another alternative I've heard of being used.  It's not as irritating as the cone, allowing more natural movement but still keeping him from licking the wound.

This is not a recommendation, just a pointer to what I'm talking about.

I like the donut collars if you get one large enough. I have one dog that is pretty bendy and it takes a pretty poofy collar to prevent the reach but they are so much quieter and they don't have the trouble eating and drinking with them on. Much cheaper also and can be used for any other future ailments rather than only being usable for one body part that is injured.
