Hello, I am new on the forum! My husband and I adopted two Huskies from the shelter a little less than two months ago. The shelter gave us an estimated age of two years. This struck us as perhaps a bit old, but we didn't think much of it. I am not a husky expert. In the meantime, we have had a variety of indicators to cause us to think they are significantly younger. I was wondering if I could get some estimates from those of you here who have experience? Here are the pieces of evidence:
1. Their teeth have no stains or plaque; they are fresh and white.
2. They have very full coats.
3. They are on the smaller size weight wise, at 43 lbs each. Although this is within normal adult range for a female...
4. They are pretty calm at home (which makes me think older), but we respect their need for exercise; they get about 6-8 miles a day in two brisk walks.
5. They spend a lot of time playing and tumbling (but never too crazy). But I have also heard that adult huskies are very playful as well.
6. We have recently been trying to track down their parents. We contacted a breeder (with parents who look extremely similar to our puppies) who said they may have come from two litters they had last November. We have looked at the pictures of the puppies and one looks like the spitting image of our Freya...Not sure about Balder. This would make them half siblings and almost 8 months.

Huskies are hard to gauge on age. They tend to always look young. I have a female that is 10 that most people think is around 3. While they are on the petite side I would imagine they are over a year old. They look decently proportioned. At a year they can still look a bit gangly. Usually they just grow in height up to around a year old and then after a year on out to around 2 they fill out and become more structurally proportionate. Growth plates look closed. My guess would be somewhere between 1 and 2 years. Teeth are a hard call. Have to go by wear and not coloration. Raw fed and dogs that have been given raw bones and chews will have clean teeth without any or much discoloration, but you will see wearing down of teeth with age. Tips of canines get rubbed down around 3 a lot more.
