Subject: Adventure's with Ami: A Scrapbook - Updated 12/27/2014 Tue May 06, 2014 9:14 pm
A request has been made for a scrapbook for Ami - thanks Jen for the suggestion. Issue has been my clumsiness with camera and walking as well as frustrations with satellite internet. But...today, I took the camera on our walk, tonight I am at Barnes and Noble and so we begin...
A poor picture but Ami in his new house...finally coming in out of the rain!
So cool - it works and fast!
Ami wakes up - time for our walk:
Yeah, that's my hole, I did it...
MY House!
Never met a culvert I didn't like!
There's something in there - I know there is - can I get it? Huh?!!?
A woodchuck hole. Checked everytime we come this way!
I'm hot - time for a swim:
Ooh ooh! Another culvert!
Anybody in here?
Aaand, there's the other side of the culvert...
Hey Ma! Did you see that grouse?!!?
Ok, I've been good - where's my treats? I'm not movin' til I get my treats!
Just on last check on this woodchuck hole - ya' never know...
Aah, home sweet home. Where's my dinner?
And so goes our days with my love bug.

Aww. He is so precious! Love seeing little days in the life posts.
I didn't realize he was so fluffy! Such a handsome boy.

Wow, what a fluffy little bear! He's so cute, and I love the captions by each picture. It's like a photo story of the walk. I'm so glad you started a scrapbook for Ami. I'll definitely be following this in the future!

Yup, he's a fluffy one When we got him, he had much less fur and his tail was a scrawny, bristly bottle brush. The shelter manager told us he had almost no coat at all when they seized him - big bare patches, too (no fleas, though, so wasn't flea allergy dermatitis). I had no idea he would grow such a coat - being outdoors, he was huge this winter. We've already lost at least half a dog (I actually thought he was overweight this winter but now he seems good) and I'm waiting to see what he will be like in July. My first husky blew her coat in huge patches over 3 weeks or so. Ami is different - more uniform shedding and it's been 6 weeks already and though it has slowed down, I still get fistfuls with brushing or scratching/belly rubs. So I'm somewhere between he's just really, really plush and he carries the woolly gene. We shall see. Length wise, when I stick my finger into his fur, it's only up to my the base of my palm - just over 2". What I do know is, after a rain, his coat is marvelously soft, you just want to bury your face in there

I love all the pictures, he is so beautiful! I also love all of his fur and he looks like he is really loving his new house!
Siku always sticks his head in those holes and I am just waiting for the day something jumps out at him and scares the crap out him!

Thank you - we think he's a beauty, too. But we're Ma and Pa and as hubby says, I'm smitten!
Inside training going well - I clean up BEFORE he comes in, learned that. Ami knows what I mean when I say know and runs around the butcher block when I catch him ready to leap I carry a rolled up newspaper to make loud noises (which he thinks is a great tuggie toy ). He even waits patiently at the back door for me to wipe off his feet. Sort of I got some doggie wipes that are supposed to smell like baby powder to wipe off his fur to lessen the allergen load but the wipes themselves stink and make me all stuffy. I might try baby wipes (are they ok of dogs?), I didn't have that problem with grandchildren's bums (of course there were lots of competing smells there so maybe I didn't notice )
Was really fun the other night - hubby sitting in his chair. Dog knows hubby always has a treat for him. Ami comes over, 3 ft from hubby and stands up on his hind legs, woo-wooing in his basso profundo, waiting for his treat.
I suspect if anything ever came out of a hole, Ami would pounce. He did find a very small snake last week I don't do snakes (none poisonous around here, thankfully). Snakes and I have an agreement - I make lots of noise and they leave before I stick my hands in the weeds.
Ami and Sierra look to have similar coloring, no? Sierra has such a beautiful face - very sweet. And Jack's coloring is just like the little guy coming over today - dark red hair and beautiful blue eyes.
Yup - big boy loves his new house. Still likes his hole under the pine tree, though.
Back to the wood. Enough break time.

their coloring is very close, that 2nd to last pic could be sierra if the coat was not so long, he must have some wooly in him! Sierra has a longer coat but its not wooly, more like a show coat and Jack is smoother and more like the racing line coat.

Mom goes grocery shopping and she gets chicken and cheese and sausage. And all I get is this stinkin' fake bone! Oh - pardon the dirty paws - we had an awesome hike through the woods this morning and I haven't finished cleaning up yet.

Ha ha. He does look like he's biding his time, waiting for something better to hit the floor.

Our first gorge walk of the season. And the first with Ami:
So...Where're we going today?
Ooh...that feels good! Sorry I scared you. Mom, I just wanted to see what was on the other side of the wall!
Nothin' like the taste of fine, cool ground water with a touch of finger lakes mud!
Legend has it that Dad wanted Mom to cross that bridge and when she wouldn't, they had to walk 5 miles around Punch Bowl Lake to get back to the car!
We made it to the top! Oh, man, I love it when Mom scratches my ears!
I'm hot - can we rest here awhile?
Aahhh...Life is good. Think I'll just rest here a bit.
Gotta' love air conditioning!
French Fries?!!? Are we gonna' get french fries?
Hrrmph! Just gas. I'm takin' a nap.
Home sweet home! Love the cool grass and the breeze...

I think you should write childrens books about Ami's adventures! You have a way of expressing his emotions that is humorous and spot on!
"Ami and Amy Go For a Hike"
"Ami and Amy Plant the Garden"
"Ami and Amy Cook Dinner"

I love it! I second Jen's suggestion about the children's books. Ami has such a happy face. I love the French fries photo, and then the one after that with his look of disappointment.

Thank you, Abby. Fluffy wasn't quite what I was expecting when we adopted him. He was 12-ish mo. and his coat was short and his tail like a scrubby bottle brush - my Sasha girl had a sleek coat and I knew nothing of plush...overly plush...woolly-coated. I assured husband that grooming him would be no issue - a quick once over every week or so, except for coat-blow season and good to go. Uh uhh...and apparantly never been groomed, he's a handful So far the Ami/Amy school of grooming is less "line-grooming" and more distract the beast, grab a patch and brush what you can...
Here's this mornings distraction...I was able to seriously reduce his pantaloons with this to keep the big boy busy:
