We are picking up this ADORABLE sweet girl on May 5!!! less than a month away!!! We have been waiting and researching for over TWO YEARS and it feels so surreal that we are so close. We will be driving with this sweet girl from Colorado home to Indiana. Since we will be making LOTS of stops in less secure areas (and yes, we will avoid high traffic dog areas), I really want to get her both a harness and a collar just to make sure she cannot slip away from us. I am wondering if anyone has any experience on what size collar and harness to get a 8.5 week old pup? Thanks in advance! can't wait to share more pictures!

Dang, my two huskies previous to the two I have now, came from the breeder with harnesses and that is what I used for my current two. I don't have the size though if it'll help any, your pup will probably weigh in the 7-9 lb range. With collars, you can always get a tiny one and if need be, make your own holes if it's not snug enough but unless your pup is already used to walking on a leash (it's possible! My last breeder worked with pups before they went to their forever homes) then I wouldn't recommend a collar, they balk once and it'll slip right off. It's amazing how tiny huskies are at that age underneath all that fluff. I don't know though, at 8 1/2 weeks their legs are too short to get away from you very fast, it's more of a bounce they do than a run so if you hover over her, you should be fine. Congrats on your pup...adorable!!!

Thank you!!!! I got this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042AMQME/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ACTEBKCZ4UUCE&psc=1 in the size 8-12 inches! at its smallest setting it is the size of my wrist! I am thinking about https://www.amazon.com/Voyager-Weather-Best-Pet-Supplies/dp/B0171MQTZE/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=puppy+harness&qid=1554809936&s=pet-supplies&sr=1-3 and I may just order 2 to see which fits her better since it is cheap! I think I will ask her breeder for approximate size measurements! She has been breeding for almost 60 years so my guess is she will know Our breeder does start crate training and leash walking, but still I would like to have the back up (harness) just in case since we will be around other cars and I cannot imagine anything happening to our sweet girl!

You maybe better off just making something rather than buying a harness that will only fit for 3 days. They grow fast. I use a weiss walkie leash. It's just a leash with an extra ring so the lead can attach to collar and then loop around the chest. They cannot back out of it and it self adjusts to the size of the dog with tension. Frankly, they can back out of many harnesses just as easily as they can a collar if they don't fit just perfect or you don't spend a chunk of change to step up to something more expensive with a belly band, and even then on a puppy fitment can be difficult. _________________

| My puppy was 9 weeks when I got her and I had a medium size collar I got from Walmart and I had to poke another hole in it to make it small enough so I'd say maybe a size small. I also have a size small seatbelt harness I got from chewy.com it came with the buckle and everything and that fit her good then and she's 15 Weeks old now and it still fits her good, it's a pretty nice harness only around 10$ or so.
