Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

We have folks come here and ask all sorts of questions about good breeders and how they can locate a good Sibe breeder.

This news article I think shows well why we're so down on the Back Yard Breeder (BYB) even though this Georgia "breeder" was registered with the state.

Voofla bills itself as:
Quote :
One of the largest resources on the Internet for finding pet stores & pet services and related businesses, worldwide.
and they present GeorgiaPuppies as a seemingly legitimate breeder.

Note that GeorgiaPuppies web site is down and that PuppyFind for this account shows no puppies for sale.  However there is nothing in the terms of service for either Voofle or Puppyfind that prohibit people, using the term loosely, from posting puppies from a puppy mill.  If they were really interested in something other than the almighty dollar they'd selectively limit their customers.

At least 4 of the "breeders" on the Humane Society's Horrible Hundred list breed huskies. Missouri and Ohio are heavily represented on that list. When you look through that list and see all that is cited and just how many times these people get away with horrible things it just completely takes away your faith in state and federal inspections. While Puppy Mills get a lot of attention, private Backyard Breeders can in many cases be just as bad, just on a smaller scale where it's harder to crack down on. Anyone that breeds for the wrong reasons (money, because their dog is pretty/nice and they want to share that with other people, or they think their dog should have at least one litter in their life) is a backyard breeder and shouldn't be supported.

Im shocked the amish puppymill here didnt end up on the list. Or any of the offgridders that breed heelers that are way inbred.Ive had a bunch of people who wanted me to partake in thier backyard breeding programs with my gsd. Usually when i say hes not akc they back off he is registered german sv but i have had a few people who were purely going by looks. I can think of half a dozen reasons not to breed him and yet still people ask. One idiot even wanted to use him as a stud AFTER i told him about shadow having PRA. Seriously who breeds a blind dog other then an unethical breeder. Im not really 100% sure what kind of situation shadow was bred in just that at 6 months old he had failed out of the air force for temperament reasons and thats when and from who i adopted him from.
