Husky puppy looks different from litter? Empty
PostSubject: Husky puppy looks different from litter?   Husky puppy looks different from litter? EmptyTue Dec 11, 2018 2:54 pm

I recently adopted a husky puppy, she is 7 weeks so does not come home with me just yet but the breeder has been sending updates and as she gets older I have noticed that she looks quite different from her siblings. She seems to have a bigger/wider face and she has smaller ears and is definitely fluffier. I am confused because they are all the same litter and don't get me wrong I am so in love with her and she is gorgeous I am just curious as to what you all think? Anyone have babies that looked more like my girl that could show me or tell me how she will look when she is full grown? Also how perfect is she though? I can't wait to bring her home! I was just wondering how she looked so different from the litter!

Excited to have found this website and all of you!

Genetics are a funny thing. Your pup looks like she might be a bit fluffier than the others but that's all I notice. Is she by chance the runt of the litter?

Some of the different look can be an illusion from the mask, but she does have a broader nose. More Mal looking. Could be some Mal a ways down the line or could just be how the genes worked out.

I was wondering the same thing - sometimes, if the mom is bred at the beginning of her receptive period and then again at the end, some of the pups can be a bit younger than the others. To my mind, that pup does look a bit younger. Also - sometimes more than one father can be involved if the breeder is not careful and, like Jenn suggested, to me, there is a bit of a malamute look to that pup.

My little girl (and her brother) looked different from their sister (only 3 pups in the litter). I personally think their sister looked much like your pup does. I'll include a pic in this post. I wouldn't say my Mishka was the runt of the litter because her brother was the same size and stuff, I just thought maybe the sister hogged all the nutrients from the mother, haha. Suggestions were made by others about possible Malamute in your pup, but I doubt it. While I never had DNA tests done on my two, I have confidence in the breeder I got them from and I found out one of Kohdi's brothers had DNA test done and came back 100% Siberian Husky so while not concrete evidence that my breeder breeds "pure" Siberians, it's enough for me. Anyways, I mention this because my two look more Malamute compared to most huskies in here but at least with Kohdi, there is no doubt he is "pure" Siberian.

My little Mishka is the one on the left. She (and her brother) were much tinier/less bulky.
