So, as you may have seen in the other thread, I have a new 10 week old pup in the house. We also usually cut our tree down the Sat after Thanksgiving. I'm worried that the idea of a tree with lights and dangling things will be too much temptation for the pup to bear and we'll constantly be trying to keep her away/knocking it down. I've never gone without a tree before. Thoughts?

I use 3ft fence wire and fence around the base of my tree so the cat won't go up the middle of it. Keeps everyone from taking ornaments and in the case of real trees saves them trying to drink the tree water.
