Cause early damage and stunt his growth?! Empty

What’s up guys!

I’ve got a question that’s been bothering me for a while now, and if you could help me out I’d really appreciate it!
My puppy has been doing these listed things and I’m afraid it’ll seriously hurt him...

1.) So my puppy just turned 13 weeks old and I’ve started to take him out for small 15 minute walks, twice a day. Along these walks, it becomes so much fun that I end up running with the puppy for about 7 seconds straight, 2-3 times per walk. After these seconds I stop let him rest and keep strolling. Mind you I’m not all out sprinting but running kinda fast.

2.) The puppy gets a burst of energy(Zoomies)and runs around the basement fast and jumps quickly straight onto the couch and back off. The couch is about 1 1/2 feet high, too fast for me to grab him.

3.) The puppy started going up our 10 step stairs...kinda fast jumping with both legs at the same time.(Never down the stairs)

I wanted to know if me or the puppy is doing any harm to his growing joints and muscles or causing him to stunt his growth?

Thanks for you help, this will help ease my mind.

You are fine. Running with puppies over an extended amount of time, for example...you normally go running/jogging and so you take your puppy with you, that is not good, especially since it's more than likely over hard surfaces. But 7 second spurts are not going to harm your puppy. With puppies, it's recommended to stay on surfaces such as grass, but again, 7 second spurts are not going to affect him. You are also doing a GOOD thing by letting him rest and walk it out. It's actually recommended in walking too.

The zoomies thing...unless you don't want him on the couch, I don't see anything wrong there either.

The stairs... I know doing things such as hiking, with a puppy, is not good and can cause back problems in the future, but stairs are something I think is ok. You should be getting other opinions soon on your questions, but for me, I see nothing wrong here, either.

I tend to try to keep them slower on stairs if possible. Climbing is a good way to build muscle strength but bounding up and down stairs could cause injury if he misses one. A lot comes down to the amount of stairs. As the old adage goes, (almost) all things in moderation.
