| i took Leo to the dog park today, and our park only has one entrance an exit. we went in Leo was excited to be there. well as we walked into the holding area. a man and a women with 2 large German shepherds; one black and one sable; pulled up with the dogs at the back of the pickup truck with no leashes on ether of the dogs.
they came in, Leo was a bit to excited he smelled the black one and the man said oh he is just a bit excited but on the second pass the black shepherded attached Leo biting his neck and shacking him for a few seconds before they were separated. the owner of the black German shepherded just took his dog and dragged him away, he didn't apologies or ask if he Leo was okay.
Leo was shaken and scared. i took him out the holding area to check him. there was no blood just some pink spots and some light bruising. and a small pink mark on my hand from their black shepherd dog. we walked out of the park and walked around for a bit. my mom said that they where smoking in the park and yelling about what had just happened, the continued to stay in the park as more people and dogs arrived. we asked if it was okay for use to join the small side with his aussie friend, so we hung out there for a wail.
then after they finally left the big side, releasing both dogs out of the park again with out any leashes and they took a picture of our license plate not sure why but i got theirs. all the other dog owners said that that dog was not letting the dogs play and was not friendly at all.
i did call the city animal control to report what happened. |

| Weird that they would photo your license plate!? Many shepherds can be trained to go reliably offleash. So that is ok ...But since the dog had to be dragged away from your dog...I guess they weren’t offleash because they were well-trained... Hope your dog is ok! I think the holidays bring people to,the park who don’t usually go. We were there hanging around peacefully with two other dogs, when I saw a mild mannered owner being dragged over by his huge dog...Great Dane size. My gut got a bad feeling. I leashed up my dog and we went out right before they came in. As we were walking away, we heard crazy loud barking, and then the high yelping of a dog in pain. Some kind of fight had broken out..? . I guess what I learned about dog parks is, when you get a bad vibe...grab your dog and leave! |

| he i would say got we got lucky that he has a plush coat he only had some light busing. i worry he will become reactive around other dogs. i guess we will not be going to the dog park any more just hiking out on the trail by the park. i would have left but there was only one way out which led to his loose dogs. he had said he was going to come back so i though he was going away, but i though wrong. i failed Leo by taking him out there on Sunday . |

| Sorry to hear this happened. Don't let it get you down. From your pictures, you are giving Leo a very good life. He'll forgive you for taking him to a dog park on a Sunday..... but it's going to take a lot of ice cream. |

| Other people's bad behaving dogs are never your fault. Just make sure he gets to be around some well behaved dogs to keep his ratio of good experiences higher than the bad. _________________ |

| Yes, I agree so much with TwisterII!
My dog has been attacked several times before, but remains overall friendly. I think it's because he has had many more neutral or good experiences than bad ones (passing other dogs and nothing happens, or meeting other relaxed dogs who are calm and friendly). So there's hope! They don't always generalize to "all dogs are bad". One experience won't necessarily change them.
Glad he only had some bruising - yes, the thick fur helps a lot! |

| thanks guys, for all the advice and an encouragement. i think will take it slow with the dog park. even after the attack Leo still wanted to join the other dogs in big dog side. which is encouraging too, that he wants to be with the other dogs. |
