Hello! I've been stalking these forums for a while and finally decided to make an account. I work as a customer service rep for Project Fi. It's technical and it's a good job. I aim to be going to school for Veterinary Technology by this time next year. I have four cats and Vera. I've always loved huskies. We had one when I was a kid. I started collecting husky stuffed animals when I was little and my poor husband anguished over finding one, knowing how special of a gift that would be. He did me one better, he got me the real thing. A couple years ago his work friend found a husky roaming the streets. She was emaciated, but in general good health. They couldn't locate the owners and no one responded to missing dog postings online. She also couldn't find a lost dog post that matched. She plumped her up a little and we adopted her a little while later. I looked for lost dog listings, too. She didn't have a microchip, either. She has been the most fun and most challenging thing. She had some weird issues about her ears being touched and other behaviors that led us to think she wasn't treated the best. Luckily she trusts us and now she isn't displaying the same scared/nervous behavior. We named her Vera after Vera Farmiga (my favorite actress) and she's been lovely. She is pretty laid back and she's not too hyper or demanding. She is so incredibly smart and learns with little effort. There have been a couple of times where I've come home and she somehow got out, but she'll sit on the porch instead of roaming. She's an incredible dog. I've loved to have her and she is my baby. My biggest complaint is that I had to get her an expensive dog prison of a crate because the wire ones don't stand a chance. I know a well trained husky won't destroy a crate, but she scared us when she got her head stuck in the bars of her first crate, so I feel better not taking the chance. We got her at about 8 months old back in June of 15, so she's at least 4 now. Anyway, here are some pictures of the girly.

Beautiful dog. Glad she found you. Welcome to the forum. Ummm...about that "well-trained husky won't destroy a crate..." Not so sure about that

Oh man, that makes me feel better. I've always seen that "a well trained dog won't destroy a flimsy crate" rhetoric. It's relieving to see that, that isn't so true for huskies! I thought mine was just especially naughty! I oughta upload a picture of the "bank vault." Hehe.

So beautiful! Those eyes are AMAZING! Welcome to the forum! Back in the day, I had a neighbor with a Husky who used to get out like your girl, and make his rounds and be home on the porch by the time his owners came home. And one day, one of my Huskies at the time, joined him! I was sure glad my neighbors Husky liked to return home on his own

Thank you all for the welcomes and the compliments! Her brown eye has a spot of blue on the top that can't be super easily, but her eyes are pretty nonetheless. Also, pardon the mess in every picture! It seems like I always take a picture of her when I'm in the middle of cleaning the room or doing laundry. I'm very thankful that she doesn't wander! The first time she got out I came home from work and she was sitting on our porch and our front door was open. Our landlady was skulking around and told me that she found Vera wandering around in front of our place and she put her in our yard. I think she tried to enter our house because the doorknob was locked, but our door was open. Vera came up and greeted me then went inside with me and showed me the dead bird she brought in for us! The second time we were living with my mom and I walked my husband to the bus stop. I came back and Vera was laying in our driveway and this van with two dudes in it were looking at her. They saw me and drove off. I don't know how she got out that time because she was in the house when I left. She could've gone out back and gotten out that way, or someone accidentally let her out into the (gated) front yard and she got out. I'm not sure, but I'm thankful she doesn't wander! The second picture of her laying on me with a big old smile and me looking uncomfortable on the couch was the day we got her. She decided that we were buddies and we've been co-conspirators ever since. She was digging her elbow into my rib in that pic. We weren't sure how she was going to be with our cats and we had the cats in the backroom and let Vera sniff around and get comfortable and one of the cats somehow got out of the room and ran out to us, saw the dog, puffed up, and then yelled "No, No, No, NO!" It was too funny! That cat barely makes any noise and has not meow to speak of, she just kind of squeaks, but she saw the dog and declared her displeasure as clear as day! Thankfully Vera is good with the cats. She wants to play and be friends, but she gets the claw treatment and it reminds her that the strange little puffballs hare sharp and mean. Sorry for the long paragraph, but I'll end with this: She has been a joy. Even though she loses enough hair to make a second husky, even though I know how to spot repair carpets with the best of them now, even though she isn't very nice when I ask her to shake hands and she slaps me arm with excitement. She's such a good pup and I couldn't have asked for a better dog Now I'm trying to talk the husband into husky number two, so we'll see how that goes!

She sounds very similar to my female. She figured out home quickly. She got out twice when I first got her and both times she came right back and waited. Now my white male is just gone when he gets out. It is a joy to have a good girl. _________________
