My husky's name is Koda. He's a year and half old. Should I invest in very professional training? I work many hours as a car dealership and I find it difficult to get him the proper excercise. Hypothetically speaking if he behaved better I could potentially bring him to work with me and be the company mascot. Am I just dreaming or could it be reality?

Hi Matthew - it's not unheard of for a Husky to be the company mascot. I'm trying to think of the woman whose dog goes to work with her. Realistically, if you can't give him the exercise you know he needs (my paraphrasing of your words) then expecting him to be calm and quiet at work - sorry, I think you're dreaming!

If you were to walk him to work so that he arrived there ready to 'chill' for a while you might stand a fighting chance.

Maybe better to invest in a couple of days a week at a doggie-day-care.

@Al ...you are thinking of Chris (Mersea Lopez) who has Grant and Sofia, who takes Grant to work with her. However, i *think* she brought Grant with her from the time he was a small puppy. I could be wrong though.

I won't disagree with Al, however, often times our Huskies just want to be near us and if allowed to do so, are quite calm and more than likely will sleep most of the time. You can always have a chew toy, like a Kong (that's filled with something, like peanut butter) nearby as well. I think being at a car dealership though, you would be in and out quite often, so it's not quite like the typical office job where you sit at your desk most of the day, and that could be a problem. There is also the issue of bringing someone to your office who may be scared of dogs, especially ones who look similar to wolves, haha, that could be a potential deal breaker for you. It's a lot to think about.

Look into taking your CGC (Canine Good Citizen). If he can pass the CGC then you should be able to safely take him to work with you without it being "much" of a liability issue. Dogs who have their CGC often are used to go into schools and nursing homes to allow kids and elderly to experience them. A husky has to have exercise. If you can't meet his exercise needs though you will never get the CGC passed so definitely assess what your current exercise routine is, if there are changes that can be made such as doggy daycare or getting up earlier to get him in a longer walk or even hiring a dog walker to come in and help out. Huskies need both mental and physical exercise so just training in a class and then at the house won't X out the need for that physical exercise.

Also there are two other titles following it called the Urban CGC and Community Canines. So they would also be good things for you to work too, especially since they are about good behavior in public.

I also agree a day or two of doggie daycare a week might help as well. Plus a good daycare can help you with training as they should use it when your pup is playing, so it will help reinforce whatever training you are doing with your dog.
