I just got my 8 week old husky pup yesterday.. I’ve been noticing that she’s breathing abnormally. She breathes very quickly and I know it’s normal for puppies to breathe faster but it’s somewhat constant and I’m becoming concerned. When she lays down to sleep she starts breathing very fast with her mouth closed and when she gets up she will begin panting. I’m very scared I’m a first time husky pup owner and I need to know if she could have respiratory issues.

Sara, could be a lot of things - and most of the crew will be back tomorrow after being out with their dogs all weekend.
Where you are - Alaska, Tex, NSW would be our first clue. What's she sleeping on - the floor, a mat, a doggie bed.
Are you in a house / apt? Is it air conditioned? Should it need air conditioning this time of year where you are?
Since you just brought her home, my first thought is that it might be nothing more than anxiety on her part - new home, new people, no playmates (siblings).

It's hard for me to picture, can you get a video of it? It will help us to help you. If you shoot a short video from your phone or something, you upload it to YouTube and then you can post it here.
I'd say though that if it's something that looks really abnormal to you, get her to the vet. It's only been a few years since mine were puppies, but without actually seeing it, I can't really say whether what you are experiencing is normal or not. Puppies are notorious for scooping up anything and everything from the ground, is it possible she ate something that may have a stimulant in it, chocolate for example?
Also, does she have plenty of water available to her?

Yes I always make sure she’s in a cool area and she has water, I’m always watching her under close watch when I let her go outside. She hasn’t gotten into anything. But I have noticed that now that she’s gotten comfy and has slept a while she’s not doing it anymore. Could it just be a stress thing?

I’ve tried uploading a video but it doesn’t let me. It’s on YouTube under “Husky pup is this normal?” Account: Saraina Holt

This seems like normal panting to me. Could be stress. Your house maybe warmer than where she came from too which will take time to acclimate to. If there is a sound to it, like a weezing, then I would have it checked. Sounds tend to signify that something is blocking the airway such as inflammation.

Yea there’s no sound to it she just breathes fast, it only freaked me out because she was breathing so fast with her mouth closed when she lays down. But now that she’s gotten more situated she doesn’t seem to be doing it. So I’m thinking it’s just the stress of the transitions she’s going through. Thank you for input guys.
