Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| About Us Founded: January 2012 Tax status: 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, donations to TSDR are tax deductible. Mission: Texas Sled Dog Rescue is a non-profit volunteer organization founded in January 2012 designed to assist Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes needing rescue. Our mission is to find loving, forever homes and educate potential owners about their personality traits which many times is overshadowed by their captivating looks. While in rescue, we will place them in foster homes, provide basic training as needed, and vetting which includes updated vaccinations, spay or neuter and micro-chip. Our volunteers are involved in all facets of rescue including but not limited to fundraising, transporting, evaluating dogs, representing the rescue at local dog events, fostering, etc. Background: We are sled dog owners and have almost 20 years of combined experience in rescue and the canine industry. Most of us have adopted both Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes, which is why we have formed a rescue to include both breeds. We do not intend to replace any of the single breed rescues but rather, work alongside them so that together we can come to the aide of more sled dogs. Purpose: Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes are gorgeous, affectionate dogs. Both breeds are active, intelligent, mischievous, and at times, stubborn! Many find themselves at shelters because they frequently are allowed to become bored. They resort to digging or other destructive activities to entertain themselves and to channel the abundance of energy they posses. In addition, many have a high prey drive which often times makes them incompatible with cats and small dogs. Like any other breed, sled dogs are not for every home. TSDR rescues dogs primarily from local shelters around Houston, TX who need us the most as they are on limited time and need a second chance! We can occasionally accept sled dogs that are on the streets or surrendered by their owners. While we would love to take in every sled dog, we know that we cannot as we are limited by availability of foster homes, finances and resources. We do not have a central facility or kennel that we keep the dogs. They are housed in foster homes and occasionally in a boarding facility around the metro area. For those in our care, we provide vetting and lots of love while we try to find loving and permanent homes with people who are fully aware of their personality traits. _________________ |
