| Hello guys, My Puppy Bella is a11 month old and she has two huge patches on her thighs of falling hair white balls of hair coming off if we try to touch it and she's biting it a lot. she took all her vaccines! Canvac (DHPPIL, Rabbies, Biocan M PLUS, De warming every 3 month with Prozvet and anti flea's monthly with front line combo the green one. Here are a few pictures below, do you know if this is a normal shedding or something more serious? do I need to take her to the vet immediately or can it wait until tomorrow? also lately she's been having the bad habit of eating her poop! |

| How does the skin look where the hair has come loose? Does it look pink and raw? Dry and flaky? Greasy? Anything abnormal should be checked by a vet. The photos do resemble patches from a normal coat blow, but if your dog is bothered by them, then a vet should definitely investigate.
Also ask your vet about the cophragia (stool eating). Usually it's merely a bad (and very disgusting) habit that's purely behavior-based, but your vet should check for parasites, problems with absorbing nutrients, etc.
Good luck!

| She's blowing her coat! Huskies do this one to two times a year, get rid of old undercoat to make way for the new. It's gonna' get worse before it gets better. Fur will be flying everywhere |

| Hope you're right, Amy. My initial reaction was "coat blow," but I've also seen hot spots that resembled a coat blow until I got a good look at the skin underneath. Nasty. |

| Yeah, that definitely looks like coat blow. Totally normal. You may see some dryness and itching with it. I usually toward the end give my girl a bath to help wake the skin up that's being exposed by the blow. She gets flaky, even with a fish oil supplement. Get your brushes ready for the storm. The more you brush the faster you will get through it. _________________ |

| Thank you so much guys, basically there are no spots or anything, just the hair is falling off and its all white like cotton!! This is her first shed!! I think its because we got her almost 9 month back and she was a puppy, just now the weather changed from 35c into 20-24c!
I don't know if its worth a trip the vet, she seems okay no pink or rash under the hair under the hair and when i pick her hair i get cotton balls.
I cant see the skin under the hair that is falling... |

| Hooray, a normal coat blow! Then be prepared for your dog to look like a mangey wolf for a month or so, and watch out for tumbleweeds of hair. Stock up on all sorts of brushes -- including lint brushes. |

| Yes, if they could just walk outside and give a good shake like the whomping willow (for all you potter fans out there) and all the hair just poof and be gone and over with would be sooooooo nice. lol. _________________ |

| Hey guys, I am trying to find the best comb to remove Bella's dead hair/fur.. I saw this alternative to the Furminator as the Furmiante which I read that it might damage the coat so I will avoid, that.
Can you recommend any brushes from the below website?

I do have a normal Comb and a Rake, but they are just not getting the job done.. |

| I would get the detangling rake (20 pin) and the ball pin slicker (the out of stock one) if/when it comes in. Slickers are great for when they first start the shed process and just a little is coming out. The wider tooth rakes are good for once the blow is on. I like a little wider tooth layout so it doesn't pull so hard at the hair that's not ready to come out. Mine won't sit through all the tugging of the more tightly packed tooth rakes. _________________ |
