After the "wonderful" day that I've had Mya decides to attack Kody b/c he was trying to play with her. He wasn't even doing much to entice her at all (he normally does a lot more). I'm guessing she was in a bad mood b/c she didn't get her walk. It was crazy for me at work today and I got home at 5pm to have to go back 30min later.

She pinned him down, but luckily I was right there and she wasn't able to do anything to him. I screamed at her so loud that poor Kody freaked and didn't want to come near me. I immediately told her she was a bad bad girl and locked her in the tv room and hugged Kody while telling him he was a good boy for 10min so that he knew it wasn't him who i got that upset at . I don't want him to hate me or her to hate him more because I locked her in the tv room.

Did I handle the situation wrong?

Separating them is good, and I know it's hard but next time (hopefully there wont' be one!) don't coddle Kody after that happens. You don't want to reward insecurity or fear. I know it's hard because you just want them to understand that it's not YOU i'm mat at it's HER.

If something like that happens again where he gets afraid of you yelling and runs off... deal with Mya first by putting her away immediately if she's in a mood (sometimes they just get into scuffles and you just need to take them off each other and they're fine) and call Kody over tempting him with a good treat. I have my dogs do something easy like 'down' and reward them with a good belly rubbing or behind the ear scratch.

Try to bring Mya back around as soon as she chills even if you're still pissed at her. Normally I just ignore the dog that pissed me off until i'm not so mad anymore.

Thanks Kristina. That wasn't too fun! I did bring Mya back out a few minutes later after letting her cry at the door for a few. I had Kody in our bedroom when I first let her out and then when she got comfty on the couch I let him out. She was looking at him sideways (lol) and then he laid on the other end of the couch and they're both sleeping now. Let's see what happens when he tries to play with her again. Now i'm going to be paranoid. This whole two dogs fighting thing is new to me and I freak!

Yeah, I guess you're right about the cuddling him, but oh wow IT IS HARD..LOL. My poor little baby.

Mya needs to relax and stop being such a diva!!!! She pisses me off!

Well it could go one of 3 ways: Mya stops being a princess, Kody grows a figurative set of balls and gives it to her one day, or Kody becomes her little slave.

Only time will tell LOL

Don't let this change your mind. Don't get me wrong...Mya plays with him all the time and she even lets him sleep right next to her some times, but keep in mind that Mya is a BITCH! Ginger is not. She got along with Sully and gets along with Niklai, right? So you'd be just fine =)

Bad Mya! LOL! I'm glad I only have Sibhee. I would go crazy if I have another dog to take care. How do you keep the two dogs together?
