| So recently Roxy has decided she doesnt like Blue Buffalo WILDERNESS anymore right after i bought the big bag so 60 bucks went down the drain. We have decided to try out Eukanuba Naturally wild North Atlantic Salmon and rice. So far the tiny bit we have mixed in with her old food she likes Hopefully she will stick with it and do well on it. Plus i like the price alot better haha. |

| Most pet stores have a dog food guarantee. If you bring the bag back with the receipt they will credit you for it. Good luck with the Eukanuba! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

Blue Buffalo has a 100% satisfaction guarantee so you can return the unused portion of the Wilderness with your receipt to the place of purchase for a full refund. _________________ |

| Firefighter..Yeah the pumpkin worked on our girls as well. MY vet said that pumpkin would act as a laxative and tried to sell us that powder, I felt the pumpkin worked , as well as the food switch , and we had none of the problems you would usually have with switching foods. Unfortunaely many vets don't have a lot of knowledge of nutrition in canines. |

This is very true. Most vets don't have a great grasp of nutrition, as is evident by the number of vets who think that feeding RAW is bad for your dog and who recommend Science Diet for huskies. It's hard to find a vet who is accepting as well as knowledgeable about canine nutrition. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Yeah I'm trying to encourage my 17 year old to go to MSU for a degree in Nutrition. He keeps tossing back and forth between Vet and MD for his college plans. I tell him he would be best NOT to just go pre-med because its basically a General degree that wont lead to a job in case he doesn't get accepted to med school. This way he could go either way as a Vet or a Doc and if all else fails he has the Nutrition degree and can be a Nutionalist/ Diatecian which isn't a bad job either. |

| Well I would say try the TOTW, I know you said it was close to you try the high prairie it is not fish. also you should be able to return the food to where you got it if she is not eating it. or build up her tummy and just keep rotating all the foods you have and that will keep her liking it maybe? _________________ |

| We're very happy with Taste of the Wild (TOTW) Pacific Stream, but TOTW is not for every dog. Like all foods, some do great and some do not.
I feel it's also fair to warn that it's owned by Diamond Dog Food Company which is the company responsible for all the recalls a year or two ago. However, again to be fair, ALL their recalls were because of GRAIN contamination, and TOTW is their high-end, grain-free food option and was not affected at all. We are aware of all this and are still happy and confident feeding it to both our dogs.
Each food comes with its fair share of problems, and even the best quality foods are not for every dog. I LOVE Innova Evo and think it's the best dog food I've seen so far, but Koda did horrible on it. It's a trial and error process. Just remember to check the ingredients, and for adult dogs you want the protein somewhere between 15-20%, more if they're being exercised hardcore consistently, and the first 5 ingredients SHOULD be meat/fish based, not a preservative or grain.
Good luck! _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| I'm going to be trying the Natural Balance L.I.D. kibble. The dried-freeze raw I have been using barely lasted a month, and it was $100. Koda does horribly on all premium kibbles so I'm trying for a "mild" kibble with minimum ingredients. |

| Well, the food worked great. Koda's tummy was very happy with it I REALLY liked freeze-dried raw. But through either Grandma Lucy's or The Honest Kitchen, you are paying between 70-100$ of food for a month depending on how little you can feed your dog. An expensive bag of kibble lasts two months. The L.I.D. is for dogs with allergies, though I would say Koda's tummy is just determined to battle me for all time, and it's not allergies from what I know aside from grain intolerance which I never fed food that wasn't grainless. I really couldn't tell you if his stools were always not that great and just got worse or if this was a sudden issue, as when we had a backyard I never noticed (I made Jarod pick it up!). They are sending me samples of the bison, venison and duck kibbles (they replied within 2 hours from my e-mail and said they would send them right away!). My only concern is that the sweet potato/potato is placed before the meat source, which means there's more potato than meat.. could that be a major downfall? Though honestly I am not worried about "TOP OF THE LINE" right now, as long as it is a GOOD kibble. |

| Yeah I noticed the potato was before the meat source too, but you don't really know the true difference in quantities you know? The Duck, Venison and Bison all have sweet potatoes as the first ingredient, which doesn't thrill me, but at least the meat is second. However the meat is not a "meal" and probably includes water weight, so that knocks it lower down the ingredient list. It looks like the Lamb formula has Lamb Meal as the first ingredient, which is good- because that doesn't include the water weight. The Lamb & Brown Rice forumla is rated a 3* on dogfoodanalysis.com and I would be more comfortable trying that one to be honest. But try what they send you. You can always get a small bag of the lamb from your pet store and return it if it doesn't work. Have you tried Pinnacle Allergy-free formulas? They're rated 4*s and have two meats as the first ingredients. Also, we used to be on Eagle Pack Holistic Select... it's also rated 4*s and Koda did alright on it. I was alright with the ingredients, but it just started to disagree with him after a while. If you're looking further down the list, they might be worth a try Good luck Heather! Keep us updated. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |
