Reduction in number of meals per day for a puppy! Empty

Hello everyone!

My puppy is 4 and a half month and i’m still feeding her 3 times a day! I read that that in general around 6 month i should reduce from 3 meals to 2/day. I was wondering around what age you switched for your husky pups feeding schedule from 3 times to 2 times a day?

Thank you  Very Happy  

Each pup is a little different. You can always try it at 2 times a day and see how it goes. If she seems overly hungry or has hunger pukes at twice a day go back to 3. There's nothing really that says you have to do 2 meals a day. Some dogs do better with 3 and some do better with 1 even. She's still in a heavy growth stage at 4.5 months. Most pups don't slow down their growing until 6-9 months which is when they are more likely to stop being hungry all the time. Right now her metabolism and fast growth burns though her food pretty fast which is why 3 meals tend to help ward off hunger pukes and upset stomach.

Thank you very much for the explanation!
She is hungry all the time that's for sure Smile , and gaining almost 2 pounds per week. she weights 30 pounds.
I thought to reduce her meals at the age of 6 month, but if by that time she'll be still gaining almost 2 pounds per week i'll probably will continue with 3 times a day feeding untill she'll start to slow down in weight gain.
