| We got our little angel today! We decided to go with the name Tetra. We drove to get her in Jacksonville and then on our way back to Tampa made a pit stop in Orlando and ended up driving for like 4 hours all in all and she slept the ENTIRE drive! I was so proud of how calm she was, till we got home and she pooped in the house 3 times haha. She's honestly the perfect puppy and so far seems to be a mommas girl, yay! Also, if anyone has any potty training tips, please help a girl out! One more thing, I can't figure out how to post pictures here, so if someone could help with that so I can post pictures that would be fantastic! Thanks! |

| Peeing isn't an issue so far and the breeder said she started potty training at 5 weeks, but for some reason she's pooped 3 times now in the house

| Cute! We use a 3-foot 8-panel pen and potty pads in the living room for newbies. Puppies poop a lot! Do you have potty bells on the door? Congratulations! We get our girl in January and are in Florida, too. |

| Do you know what method the breeder was using to potty train? Most likely the pooping in the house was nervousness of the new area and people and will hopefully go away as she becomes more familiar and you develop a routine. I would lean away from potty pads if you have anyway around them. They can encourage dogs that it's okay to go in the house, even if it is in a designated spot and can make some very hard the break from that spot once the pad is gone and the pup is perfectly capable of holding her bladder until you get home. Getting started on teaching to go to the door or using the potty bells as soon as possible is excellent. Mostly, just get your routine. Start by going out every half hour for the first while and really praise her when she goes. Then you can taper off to every hour and then every couple hours. I think they should be able to hold it for an hour per month of age assuming no medical issues like UTIs. Also, take her out after she eats or drinks and right after she plays because those tend to be the times they go the most. It just seems to work right out of them. You will do great. Congrats on getting her home. i love the name. _________________ |

We don't have bells yet, but not sure if we want to do a bell system or not since we might not hear it all over the house. How well does putting them in a pen work? Every time we walk away from her or are in a separate room she cries and she also cries if we don't pay attention to her. The boyfriend is too scared that she'll hate him if he scolds her so he's gonna have to man up and take charge haha. She cried in her cage last night for bed and he gave in and let her sleep on the bed after 5 minutes of crying |

Not quite sure what method she was using for potty training, but she said they were going like every 3-4 hours. I think it was also that I started mixing her new food with her old and it wasn't settling right in her stomach quite yet. She's still not okay with going down stairs yet so I don't think the bell system would work quite yet unless we can get her used to using bells upstairs and downstairs. She pooped outside this morning after she ate before I left for classes but then she pooped again inside a little after I left. She whines when she has to go out it seems but I can't tell which are her "I have to go potty" whines and which are her "I need more attention" whines. We don't want to use potty pads for that reason exactly, so we're just cleaning it all up as accidents happen so far. |
