| So i was brushing Sierra last night and lifted her tail to brush under it and found a 4-5mm round hard thing sticking out her anus, right near the hole, i of course freaked the hell out thinking the worst and i still am. We have a vet apt in the morning to have it looked at. Sorry for the gross pics. Keep good thoughts for her that its nothing major, poor girl has been through enough _________________

| Polyps, and their successors, are usually fleshy, I think. Possibly something she ingested that didn't get fully expelled? Keeping positive thoughts for a big nothing. |

| Hi jbealer!
I'm thinking maybe impacted/inflamed/infected anal glands? It's the only thing I can think of in that area. Definitely something that would require veterinary intervention, but it's fixable =D.
Wishing your fur baby well!
Keep us updated!

| I would post the picture with a warning. It could help someone out in the future that might run into the same thing so have a picture and an answer as to what it is when you find out. Hopefully nothing serious. Such an awkward area. Poor girl. _________________ |

| I'm going to offer a WAG and say that that looks like a light coloured Tick to me. Even after I blew the picture way up I couldn't get the definition I wanted but in that bottom picture - due north of the 'body' looks to be a tick's head.
My imagery of the anal glands would put the further inside the anus. Well, WebMD shows them to be at the 4 and 8 o'clock positions and I see your "bump" to be at about the 6 o'clock position.
I won't even get into the "Do dogs have hemorrhoids?" Some sites say "No!" and other sites say that they need to be taken care of quickly ...
Now, please get your vet to tell us what we're looking at. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Hmmmz...yea...didn't see the pictures before...
I would guess just a general abscess? Doesn't seem like anal gland problems. I'm sure it will be drained/excised and that will be the end of that...=D
Let us know! |

| Now that I've seen it I am guessing hemorrhoid. Would probably go away with preparation H and save you the vet costs. _________________ |

| Probably some sort of polyp then (there are a variety, each with a different descriptive name that, at the moment my brain is unable to retrieve...on muscle relaxant, which severely also relaxes the brain ) I had one removed from way up in my colon when I was 50, had high grade dysplasia. Bought me a colonoscopy at 1, 3, 5 and every t years after that. Nothing since. Hopefully, and most likely, even if it is a cancer, it will be totally gone with removal. So sorry you have to go through all this crap with little girl Will be keeping you in mind. |

| Sorry that it turned out to be a polyp - personally, even though it's gross, I'd have settled for a tick. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| It's NOT cancer!!!!! Here is the report if you can understand medical talk COMMENTS: There is significant tissue collection artifact that is precluding a definitive interpretation in this case. There is an apparent proliferation of basilar epithelial cells forming cords and lobules with occasional sebocytic differentiation, making a sebaceous gland epithelioma the likely lesion in this case. A lesser considered possibility is a trichoblastoma. Sebaceous gland epitheliomas occur primarily on the head as solitary lesions, although generalized cases have been reported. Shih Tzus, Lhasa Apsos, Malamutes, Siberian Huskies, and Irish Setters are overrepresented. A sebaceous epithelioma is more likely to recur, but the recurrence rate is still low, approximately 6%. _________________ |
