After Bodhi backed out of his harness and ran away last week, I ordered a new harness from Nordkyn.
Bodhi's old one had been used by my previous husky and I thought it was looking worn.

I love the new one because they sewed in an adjustable belly band so he can't back out of it.
Of course, if I tied him up and left him in it, I am sure he could eat his way out of it!

That's a nice one! It's almost like an X-Back harness, only less X's Smile

That's a nifty item there. From the looks of the placement it seems like the buckle would actually take very little, if any, stress. Have you noticed any tension across there aside from you fitting it?

No. It hangs loose across his stomach. I cinched it up to where it just touches his fur.

The buckle is quick release, which I would not trust if it was around his neck, but hopefully, will give me enough time to grab him if he smashes it. I think with where it is located, on the side of his stomach, he isn't likely to subject it to much stress.

The harness is called a "recreational harness" and it does look like an X-back without the x's.
I like the fact that I can put his pack on over it.

So harness is what they call that body leash. I thought it was body leash all along and harness means a crate. Is a harness better than a neck collar?

Just ordered this harness for Storm! Since Storm is still losing weight, I called all 3 places to find out if I could order a harness now and would it still fit him later...Alpine Outfitters never called me back, and I've now concluded their customer support SUCKS! Adanac Sleds said I should wait until Storm is closer to his goal weight before I order an X-Back harness, and Nordkyn said I could order the recreation harness and it would be a little loose if he lost weight. They advised to take down the tail and neck measurement up to 1" and it would still fit.

So, the recreation harness was promptly ordered for Storm in silver with the belly band Smile And it'll still fit him even if he loses 10 more lbs!

I called them to ask how to order it, and they told me to put his tail measurements in the special instructions and that I wanted a belly band (like yours) and they said it was called a 'cinch'. Well, I got it and it was too small, and when I measured the tail on the harness they sent me, they sent me a standard harness, and just sewn in a cinch. And the cinch wasn't what I wanted. When I called them about the harness being too small, they said it's not a cinch that I want but a 'girth'. They couldn't believe that what they sent didn't fit because 'it fits most 90 lbs Malamutes'. Anyway, Jane (the person I talked to who I think is the owner) said to return it and put a note that I talked to her and that it should have a girth sewn in for a 26" neck and 34" tail.

So we're still waiting....but I think hubby and I will really like it. You won't be able to see it because we ordered silver and it just kind of gets lost in his color, so it'll look almost invisible! Smile Not what we planned, but I think it'll still look cool!

Hope it works out.

I went back and looked at my communication with them.
Initially, I didn't know what to call that band under his stomach.
She did call it a "girth band" to me, also.

Sorry, I should have told you.

It's OK - they took it back and didn't charge my any extra for the girth. Their customer service seems to be better than Alpine Outfitters. Otherwise, I would have ordered something from Adanac Sleds.
