Is it still possible for an 7 to 8 year old husky to be in canicross gear? Mika is 7 years old, going on 8 in April, and she is 69 pounds. She is still fairly active. Not overly hyper like your typical husky, but still has good energy. Would it be safe for a dog like her? I'm very new to this, but heard of it and did some research on it. Thought I should at least give it a shot. I was looking for a more involved way to get into shape with my best friend. Any tips?

If you work her up slowly to it and she doesn't have any larger issues like arthritis that is coming up or hip issues. My girl is around 8 and I bikejore her some. She is starting to have arthritis to the extent she is slow to get up after laying around for a while so we don't go hard anymore.

Mika hasn't had any huge problems getting up yet, except for when it comes to getting in the jeep. We've been giving her a good supplement for her glucosamine, and its been helping alot. You need a harness for her and a belt for you and line to connect the two of you.  A skijor belt works great for canicross.  Check out some of the mushing outfitters outline for equipment!   Alpine Outfitters, Adanac are a couple of good ones out west.......
