| Hi guys,
So my puppy who is almost 14 weeks now was born with an overbite and her lower jaw was short so they lower k9 were sticking in her upper gum, we had two choices either extract the tooth or trim them. She also had Giarda when we got her and re ouccaring diaharia, since two month we never saw single sold poop. We put her on a lot of a lot of aniboitcs and nothing is working. Her medical history is below.. please advice me how can I fix her jaw and what do I do for her stomach..

| Oh no you have had some problems, I am so very sorry Can you get Acana dog food, since you can get Orijen? Same company, but Acana is slightly lower in protein % compared to orijen, and many husky puppies just can not handle the amount of protein that is in Orijen. Surprised that Taste of the Wild did not work. I do understand the issues, but switching the brand of kibble so much plus all the meds, and different health issues will surely mess the tummy up. I would pick one brand, in my preference of what works Acana or Taste of the Wild, and just keep her on one food for at least 1 month. I would also ask the vet or look for a Probiotic to be given 2 hours away from any antibiotics that you may still be giving. Can you find raw goats milk? Have heard that this helps tremendously with tummy issues. Start with a small amount and work up. If these items do not help in a month I would look into an enzyme, many companies make, Animal Essentials is a good product. |

| This poor pup has been through a lot. All the parasites and the meds for taking care of them really tears up a system. I would look at doing a bland diet for a while before making the switch to the new food. You maybe fighting a form of colitis on top of it all brought on by the situation. Cook up chicken and mix with eggs or green beans for a couple weeks then start making the switch to Acana if you can get it. Also look into the probiotic Renee mentioned. You can feed it with the bland diet.
I have no clue on the teeth. I've heard of them yanking all the lowers and hoping the jaw will catch up a little as they grow. You and your pup have a long road ahead. It's sad what breeders allow to happen. Keep us posted. _________________ |

| indeed she's been through aloot poor pup from the age of 7 weeks had an overbite with her lower k9 sticking into her upper gum, we had to trim her lower K9 so it doesnt cut her upper gum and now we either leave it or extract it vet says its up to us, but i want her lower jaw to grow so she doesnt suffer an overbite all her life
.. and constant diaharha.. it became so bad we took her to vet gave her anti biotics after another until last week they gave her Panacu 3.4ml per day and baycox for 3 days, and Canigest pribiotics 2ml twice a day. she is a little better but her poop is now yellow paste. her food is ONLY steamed white rice with steamed chicken breast.. they checked all her stool tests and nothing showed up.. so those are the final anti biotics and this diet.
I need to put her on a correct food.. we currently have the options of the below, can you please tell me which one would be best for her now and in the future as a adult? i'm so sad about her and just want her to be healthy and grow up to be good! Lily's Kitchen Taste of the Wild Arden Grange Merrick Natures Variety Burgess Dog Food ZiwiPeak Orijen Royal Canin Applaws Pro Plan Eukanuba ACANA Acana - Puppy Small Breed Acana - Cobb Chicken & Greens Acana - Pacifica Dog Acana - Prairie Poultry Acana - Wild Coast Canine Formula

| I am not familiar with some of the foods, however, you do have some fantastic foods available. My first pick would be Acana puppy, and at 8-12 months old move over to the adult Acana. Next would be Ziwipeak, then Nature's Variety, then Taste of the Wild, then Merrick, then Orijen. The merrick and Orijen are superior foods, however many husky puppy just do not do well on. If I didn't mention the food it is either not high quality or I have not heard of. So if the ones I listed are available and fit your budget those are the ones I would choose. Like Jenn said I would keep her on the rice and chicken, and continue with the probiotics until poops are firm, may take a while so plan on continuing with that. Is pure can pumpkin available to you? That would be something I would get, if so a tablespoon per meal will help. Also if you can get Kefir or full fat yogurt would also benefit her, again a tablespoon per meal. The coloring of her poop more than likely is from all of the antibiotics, I would double steam the rice, so it is a gooey consistency. Also make sure the antibiotics is taken minimal of 2 hours away from the probiotics, otherwise one cancels out the other. Raw goats milk if available is also something I would add to the diet, it really helps in digestion, and will add liquids to the diet, you need to watch for dehydration. With goats mil I would try 1/8 of a cup, perhaps less and work up to no more than a 1/4 cup a day, as she gains weight you can increase a little, but I would try 1/8 cup work up to 1/4 cup, can be added to her meals. lastly, if you can get the Animal essentials enzymes I would also try that along with the rest. I am so very sorry she is having so many issues. If I need to clarify something please ask, I am happy to help. |

| Thanks for all the info!! Actually Bella is on babylites mixed with her water to avoid dehydration. Also will continue with the probiotics until she's well. I already have a bag of orijen puppy, should I give that a try..? Or you think try the Acana puppy first? I will do give her bit or pumpkin and yogurt as you mentioned, but again Acana or orijen? I don't want to try taste of the wild as she was already on it and it didn't go well. |

| Can you return the Orijen if it is not opened? I would go with the Acana puppy. Most huskies have poop issues with the Orijen, and do much better on Acana. So my pick would be the Acana puppy. |

| I can't return it, but shouldn't be an issue for our little baby.. will look for acana, when do you think it would be the best time to switch her from chicken and rice and add abit of acana to the food? |

| I would keep her on the bland diet for a week or two after you are done with all the antibiotics. Meds really tear a belly up. Especially a lot of meds. _________________ |

| Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream (one dog has a chicken allergy). If I had one dog instead of three I would feed the Acana or go full raw though. _________________ |

| Okay her poop is was paste like in the morning and noon, but I gave her the probiotics and anibotics and her poop is back to water yellow.. should I maybe try and change from chicken to meat?
I read online if she has yellow diahria then I should take her to a vet immediately...
Should I maybe change her food from chicken to meat..? |

| With her background yellow is to be expected. She isn't getting to absorb any nutrients from her food and it is racing through her system so it isn't getting to go through the normal processes. I would stick with chicken. Other types of meat such as red meat are richer and not bland and will make her GI work harder to attempt to digest. The only other meat you could try is fish (no bones, so if you do that look for boneless like talapia) Probiotics are going to move things along a little for a while but they will help sooth her stomach and GI in the long run. _________________ |

| The bland diet that you are already doing is as hypoallergenic as they get from what I can tell. Vets always turn to Royal Canin or Science Diet. Some Royal Canin types aren't bad food but anytime they start stripping food down to be 'hypoallergenic' the nutrition tends to suffer. I would stick to Acana if it were me unless the vet gave something specific the thought was an issue that the dietary breakdown of the Canin addressed such as a chicken allergy. I will have to do some homework on that specific food to see what it's usually prescribed for. _________________ |

I truely dont want to give her royal canin as i know its such a bad quality food, but the vet insisted that if I want her to be healthy she must try that food.. I dont want can you advice? Also she gave me probotics PROMAX she said that it might help.. Can you guys tell me if i can ignore my vet and try the Acana food with the probitoics.. What would you do? |

| Gastro intestinal is different than the first one that you posted. The first one you mentioned, the hypoallergenic one, has zero meat in it and would suggest that your vet is trying to rule out an allergy which is more acceptable. The gastro intestinal stuff just looks like crappy food. Depending on which it is would determine my answer. Which food is it, the hypoallergenic or the gastro? _________________ |

| Gastra, because she isnt digestive her food and its coming out yellowish not digested. Her current food is steamed cramy rice (creamy as in wattery) and STEAMED chicken.. should I be given her RAW fresh chicken? maybe that's the mistake? i am considering add the kibbles to her diet. P.S: The vet asked me to immediately stop the Panacur as she has been through enough antibiotics and her stomach can't handle anymore.. I'm gna get her fresh pumpkin and rosemary, coconut oil, yoghurt,? Mix it with a little of chicken and rice and her new Acane..Anything to avoid from those? Can. I add also fish oil to her food? The tablet form I can cut a smal price and fead it to her ? |

| Don't give the rosemary. Some dogs have neurological responses to it. Definitely stop all the medications. It will take a while for them to work out of her system. You're just going to have to be patient. How are you doing the creamy rice? Is there actual milk being added to it or are you just leaving a lot of water in it?
What I would do is cook up plain rice, no cream, and mix it with the cooked chicken (doesn't matter how you cook it whether steamed or boiled. Raw can be a little hard to digest so I would continue to cook) and then trade off some meals giving her green beans in place of the rice or scrambled eggs. For treats freeze up a mixture of plain pumpkin and yogurt into a Kong or ice cube tray and feed those as treats a couple times a day. I would do this for a week and see how she is doing. Nothing, not even the food the vet is suggesting is going to help her overnight. It will take a week or two to see real results. If after a week of bland feeding her stools have a somewhat normal color and might be showing some sign of working toward halfway solid then you can start slowly mixing the kibble (acana) into the rice/egg/bean and chicken combo. She isn't getting hardly any fiber right now with creamy watery food that she is getting so having runny poop is just going to happen. Getting some fiber back in with the regular rice and beans should help her have more solids coming through her system.
Fish oil can be given but I don't think right now it will do a whole lot for her. Just one more thing for her belly to get used to. I would hold off for now. _________________ |

| Ok, the coconut oil I would avoid for now, too much fat will continue with the tummy upset. The Alpro is not a kefir or proper yogurt, it has to contain culture strains, the words are too long to spell here, lol. I hate asking, but do you mind sharing in what country you live in, so it may be a tad easier to recommend items? |

| thank you very very much will feed her a mix of pumpkin+cocunut oil.
No milk with the rice, just creamy as in watery rice and chicken. I add a little tiny bit of her Acana to the food, should i hold off the acana for now!?
and ya, i wont give her the coconut oil, though they said its good for digestion.
I live in U.A.E, Dubai I go to spinneys to get her those home foods.. which yogurt do I need to get.. |

| For some reason I couldn't edit my reply above. I agree with jenn not enough fiber, however, sorry Jenn, I don't recommend eggs with upset stomachs, that is my only thing I would disagree with on Jenn's post.
Bland diet, double cook rice (long grain white rice, NOT Brown rice and Not minute) Double cooking time and double water, watch to not burn rice. Rice is an absorber, any extra gastric juice will be absorbed into the rice. Plain chicken breast, no bones, no skin, no fat, boil and then shred up. The chicken will provide the needed protein. Add 1 table spoon of pure can pumpkin per meal, pumpkin is a great fiber Add 1 tablespoon of plain kefir, or yogurt (most have microbes or is not affective)the yogurt is to settle the tummy and put good gut flora into the tummy Feed 1 cup cooked rice to 1/2 cup chicken, always more rice than chicken. Feed 3-4 small meals of this a day. Feed at least 3-5 days, it will take that long to see results of firmer poops. Once poops are firm for at least 1 day, add in a small amount of Acana kibble and work towards more kibble less of the mix. If poop gets mushy go back to the feeding that produced solid poops and hold at that amount for a day or two. I would also at this point with hold any food for at least 12 hours, and allow bowels to evacuate all the bad stuff out of her tummy first, then start the bland diet from scratch in the way I listed above. Provide as much water as you can, with the pedylite or the stuff you have been giving. If she appears to be hungry the only added item I would give is steamed green beans, not raw, it is a filler and a mild fiber. |

| Okay, so double cooked rice + chicken, 2:1 ratio chicken to rice and pumpkin, i got the the raw fruit pumpkin, will that do? Also is the below yougurt a good one? or i need to find Keflr? So if i get all the above right, its 1 table spoon of yougurt + 1 tablespoon of pumpink + rice and chicken starting 12 hours from now. |
