For those of you feeding honest kitchen, tell me your experience.... I’d love to hear more from Husky Owners.

We just made the switch recently, and so far I’m digging it. Which kind have you found your husky likes best? How much are you feeding daily/ each feeding? Any bad experiences?

I know people who feed the honest kitchen. I personally fed Grandma Lucy's when I was making the transition to raw. Both are great foods and feed fairly similar. I always did the premixes so that I could add my own meat. Mine are adults and I was feeding per the back of the bag's instructions. When dealing with kibble huskies tend to eat less than what the bag recommended but when I was feeding freeze dried we were going by the back of the bag which I think was around 2 cups a day for my oversized husky.

Jenn and myself feed similar, I also have fed Grandma Lucy's and both of my girls have done great on it! How much to feed and cost, well, hmmmm, I also feed the premix and added my own meat, but I also feed kibble, and currently feed a mix of kibble and raw. Freeze dried and dehydrated are excellent ways to feed a dog. BUT I will say you must be extremely aware of feeding a puppy. Some of the lines are not suitable for a growing puppy. You must figure that part out. Most of the raw groups I belong to as well as the home cooked groups do not recommend feeding this type of food to puppies. Puppies do not have the reserves that adult dogs have. So it probably wise to feed at least half of the daily food in a form of puppy kibble and then add in GL or THK or whatever it is that you would want to eventually feed. Once your puppy is at 80% of it's adult weight then it is fine to make a slow transition to whatever it is you want to feed. As is said in the groups I belong to, it is better to feed a crap kibble, since it is properly balanced, than it is to feed an unbalanced DIY food.

We just started Sierra on Sojo's (lamb) close to THK. she is 44lbs and we are doing one cup of mix to 1.5cups of water for the day split into 2 feedings. that is based off their 20-40lb suggestion on the bag. she loves it, she still has mushy poop but that is either her digestive issue we are fighting or we tried a diff food between the change so we are giving it another week.

Did you do proper transition? If I recall you said Sierra usually was good to go w/o doing so but hey she's getting to be an old lady and probably needs to change over more slowly.

i think it was the mix of the other food between it all.. we have been on the Sojo solid for over a week now and she has had for the most part solid poop all weekend. the snow is melting so i think the mush i am finding is old stuff. and well finn eats poop so if we we don't see them do it then we are not sure, he is so gross!
