2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. PostSubject: New Husky Pop   New Husky Pop EmptyMon Jul 10, 2017 5:49 pm

Hi there...I’m a newb but wanted to say howdy. I’m the proud pop of Addie, a year and a half old husky gal. She is relatively new to the family, having been re-homed with us about one month ago. I’m glad to have stumbled across “It’s a Husky Thing” to see everyone’s wonderful Huskies and to learn about them.

She came to us when our English Springer Spaniel was killed in a hiking accident in May which was beyond heartbreaking. At first I thought it was too soon but Addie needed a new home at the same time. I never planned on ever getting a husky but boy, did I sure need her. She helped a hurting heart. Addie has already made it clear she is a great fit  Other than not exactly being a “water dog,” she doesn’t mind getting her paws wet or hitting the trail. She even enjoys riding in the boat with the family and hopping into the kayaks   Other than chewing few a USB cords she’s been a sweet and super playful addition 

I never realized that huskies could jump like they do. With a lot of work I may have another dock dog someday  I often think if my old girl and Addie could ever meet what a fun time they’d have together. My daughter has a springer and when they get together it’s a side splitting hilarious time for all watching them go at it. Now if only the cats would warm up to her lol

Welcome to the forum! Love the picture. She's very pretty. Some are jumpers and some do love the water. My male tries to detour toward water every chance he gets, while my female will happily wade around but that is all. Luckily none of mine jump. It can be a task keeping the jumpers in a yard sometimes and husky recall is notorious for being less than solid without a lot of training, but they are a fun breed that teach as much as they learn and they keep things always interesting. Sorry to hear about the loss of your other dog.

Thank you very much! Well maybe I should have said leap instead of jump but yes I did the research on the breed and learned a little about the prison break jumping abilities of some huskies. And yes recall isn't quite what I'm used to but Addie does pretty well. Sounds like your pair put you at an impass when near water lol. Thank you again. It's still a long sad process dealing with loss of our ESS but Addie been a big help
