Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. | My almost 5 month old is pretty well behaved, but he wakes up around 5 AM everyday. During the week I work so I wake up early and take him for walks and feed him but on the weekend I cant get him to sleep in at all. He wakes up so hyper and hungry and wont let me go back to sleep. I need to keep him up on the weekdays so he gets exercise before I leave but is there any thing I can do to get him to sleep in? I understand they get used to a schedule but I've never had a dog that acts the way he does in the morning. |

| Ella, I feel your pain ... I'm retired and sometimes stay up late, er like 2-3-4AM and my dogs used to get me up at 7:00 ish regardless ... groan!!!
What I did on those nights I stay up really late is to take them out before I crash for the night - which is *much* later than they're used to. As you said, he's on a schedule because of your normal schedule. You want to change your schedule, so change his as well. If you're up later on Friday / Saturday nights (I presume you have a "normal" weekend) then take him out later, just before you go to bed. It may not solve the problem, but it will help.
BTW, my dogs will now wait for me to wake up unless they really have to go out - and there have been times that's been 9-10AM. It takes a while for them to understand what you're doing but that extra couple of hours of rack time is worth it. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Thank you so much! I will definitely try letting him out later and hopefully he will get the hint. |
