| Zelda is going on 10 months and weighs 38lbs. She isn't a big eater, and I swear she goes on hunger strikes sometimes just so I'll cave and cook her a bunch of eggs out of fear of starvation (she has me trained)!! She is on hills science diet Ideal Balance dry puppy food. Is she just small or still growing upward? |

| Holli, I have a 8 month old male puppy and he is 37lbs, or was last week... my Vet said he can still grow to about 1-1.5yrs old, then they start to fill out after that. Females are "smaller" in the breed, my girl is 46lbs. she still has to about 2yrs to really reach her adult size and weight. as for food, she just has you trained, she will eat if really hungry, if not then i would go to the vet as it would be medical if she goes more then 2 days with no food. My boy will skip breakfast at least once a week. they get feed twice a day. how often are you feeding her? _________________ |

| The AKC standard for a female husky is 35-50 pounds so shes already in the breed standard. I agree with jbealer on shes got you trained, if she isn't under weight for her height then I wouldn't give in to her hunger strike. If she doesn't grow much more she will be on the small side, but smaller huskies make for more portable huskies! I have a little girl and we go kayaking, she loves it, but it can be hard enough with her extra weight on the front I couldn't imagine if she weighed more! |

| Some Huskies are just smaller. Is she fixed? Unfixed females sometimes will refuse food when close to a heat. _________________ |

| I had the same fear about my female husky, She is about a year and a half and I just welcomed her to our lil family. She dwarfs in comparison to my 7months old boys so I was very worried about her past. We just went to the vet for her and everything seems normal . She is really healthy even though she weighs 38lbs, beautiful and full of energy. Some huskies are just more foxy like than wolfies I guess. IDK if puppy diet change will help but I used orijen puppy (yellow bag) on my two male huskies when they were being picky puppies and they've grown really well and healthy and they've never refused a meal since. Goodluck with your pup |

| Hey hollitai,
I have a 7.5 month purebred husky male and he only weights 32lbs. He's always been a bit small, but does grow very proportionally. Never had the super skinny phase, or the big ear phase. Echo has never gone on any hunger strikes, if he does...something is wrong! He is 100% food driven and no matter how much I feed him he will not gain anymore than what he wants to gain.
Maybe I exercise him a lot, but I'm resigned to think he just has a high metabolism. Huskies are very good at self regulating themselves, and will grow and eat as they see fit.
Your pup is just fine! =D |
