| Just wondering if this is normal. also no follow up visit. I think I irritated them because they like to keep overnight but the dogs are left alone at night and I thought she would be better served here with someone who could keep an eye on her. They acted very salty over it. I just didnt think it made sense because I would have picked her up at 8 am and with nobody there at night, seemed silly to me |

| It wouldn't be for me since my vet knows that I'll take any stitches out myself - "Please don't use staples." but then it's an 80 mile trip to the vet. In almost any metropolitan area, I'd find it odd to say the least.
The lack of pain meds I also find unusual, but I'm also one who believes that giving pain meds encourages the dog to move around more than they should as they heal - they feel "better" so they move around more, when they feel hurt they tend to curl up and wait out the healing process with less chance of them pulling the stitches out.
I'm not impressed by what you write of your vet, Most of my dogs are rescues and some of them come from the rescue already spayed but some don't. Those who I've had spayed have never stayed longer than the day "Drop her off at 8:00 AM and pick her up at 4:00 PM." is the routine. They've had roughly 8 hours to perform the surgery and watch for any coincidental problems (most spays are done in the morning so that could really be as few a four hours.)
Given what I've written, the following shouldn't be too surprising. I'd be looking for a different vet. A vet's office is not place to make a client uncomfortable, in most cases they're uncomfortable just having to be there - a good "bedside" manner can make a world of difference. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| thanks, im going to do that. they were also rude about me taking her. they had her 12 hours. had they had someone watching the dogs overnight I would have left her but I wasnt too keen on leaving her unsupervised overnight after a surgery |

| My little girl wasn't given pain meds either after her spay (or my boy for that matter) first night is always a bit tough (you hate to see your pup in any discomfort!) but after that it went pretty smooth. Part of that first night is them coming out of their anesthetic anyways, so that plays into their discomfort as well and pain meds don't help that part. |
