Hi guys, changed Laika's brand from purina to kirkland (went from 1.5 to 4 stars according to the dog meter) and at first bumped up quantity to 2.5 cups per day and we had pudding poop, after the advice on another thread went back to 2 cups and now poop is firm but Laika is pooping like there's no tomorrow! loads and loads, could it be the new food is cleaning up her system or something? She is active, drinks and eats normally, sleeps well so I have no clue why the poop quantity has grown to 3 or 4 massive ones (no pudding at least!) Any ideas or suggestions? BTW she completely loves the new brand

Vanessa, Laika is still under a year? If so puppies tend to go a lot. It does normally take anywhere from 4-12 weeks, 8 weeks being the typical amount of time to see if changing of the food is a success. There may be something in the kirkland's that she is sensitive to, but I would wait it out for the 8 weeks before deciding to change. Which flavor are you feeding? If you are feeding one that has grain in it, that may be the reason. many huskies do not do well on grain inclusive foods. But not knowing which one you are feeding I can't really give much more advice.

Hi Renee, I'm feeding her the turkey and sweet potato (the one for salmon smells too much :S) that is supposed to be grain free description and yep she's 5months old, changed the food because the puppy food down here is not one of the best and the vet told us that kirkland is much better will wait for the 8 week mark and update, with other puppies (retrievers, dalmatians and bulldogs) can't remember so much poop was around

POOP happens My GSD pooped a lot as a puppy, still did after she turned a year old, upped her fiber content and eventually all was good. My husky mix pooped a lot as a puppy and changed to grain free and as an adult she poops mainly once a day, sometimes twice. With that said this is an excellent food. I thought maybe chicken was in it and nope. I would wait it out a little and see if it lessens. Has the vet cleared her of any worms or parasites, that can also be an issue. If she is cleared and the problem persists then hop back on and ask away what we would do. Too often people who switch brands get frustrated and go and switch far too soon, to really know if the new food is working. Can you get items thru amazon? Or Chewy? You could try animal essentials brand pre, pro biotic with natural enymes to help in the digestion of your pups food, because that could also be an issue, if cleared of worms or parasites.
