Yuka usually gets zoomies in the evening ... Yesterday and today though he seemed really confused about it, looking at me and yelping as if he didn't know what to do or what was going on .... Is this normal and what is the best thing to do in that situation? .. I gave him his kong with treats which calmed him down, but it was really odd.

Hi Marco............do you think it is possible that he was trying to instigate play with you? My Miya will do goofy things like that, play bows, starts a charge at me, spins in a circle and woooooooos at me, lol. On the other hand he may have pulled a muscle, so you may want to check him over and just make sure he is feeling ok. Can you get a video, or maybe more descriptive on what exactly he does?

I didn't notice anything and it wasn't yelping like he was in pain. It was more like he was trying to tell me he was going insane ... lol. Don't know how to describe it really, normally he just races trough the room, picking up random toys along the way etc, pretty much ignoring me and now he just stopped right in front of me, looking in my eyes while making a lot of noises. I guess it could have been that he tried to instigate play, but pretty difficult to play with a dog thats going loopy ....
It just strikes me as odd anyway, always had dogs and they would get zoomies, but never acted like that ... Then again, Yuka is quite vocal so maybe i need to get used to it and figure out what he wants when he does that.
Thanks for the reply .... ill try to make a video when he does it again.

I did record a part of one of his zoomies about 2 weeks ago. It's what he normally does

My new one gets zoomies in the house and can't decide if he wants to try and zoom or spin so he hops around like a bucking bronco making a rarr sound. To get me to do something he will do this then bow in front of me stomping his front feet then go back to his zooming pirouette and rarring. Without a video of the new behavior it's hard to say. As he grows if he tends to zoomie with stuff in his mouth he will start to master how to really do it with his mouth full. Mine prefer to shake their toys vigorously while they run and bounce. The ball is still a little large for him to do that with but as he come to master the shake more it could definitely cause him to adjust how he runs. He could have also wiped out on slick floors once when you weren't looking and it's made him a little more aware when he is trying to zoom.
He does shake his toys ... that time in the video he grabbed the ball, but he also has a squeaky bunny, rope, small ball and the rubber bone he picked up at the end of the video. I will let him in the backyard next time and see how it goes then ... I placed the rug in the room because he did slip once while jumping of the couch so might be that he is more careful because of that then and can't get the zoomies out of his system which could explain the weird behaviour i guess.
Zhukov also gets the Zoomies in the evening. He dashes down the hall, into the living room, up onto the couch, up and down the length of the couch, spins like a whirling dervish, and then up and down the hallway again (ad nauseum)...
This is just him burning off some excess energy. If he didn't get his 200 mile walk for the 3rd time that day, or, it was rainy and we didn't get outside to throw the ball for 4 hours straight, this is what he does. From what I have seen, it is completely normal (for this breed) and nothing to stress out about.
O, whats on the video i know thats normal, it's something else thats not on the video that was odd. Will try to record it if he does it again. Not to stressed about it though, it's just that he looked very confused and want to be able to help him out when he doesn't know what to do with it ... Might be that he's just weird though XD
