I know most huskies are howlers from birth, but my Zelda never howls! She does talk....a lot, not barking, but more like a "woowooohhhrrrr" (we often have back and forth banter). She doesn't howl or bark at sirens or make any noise when other dogs start howling. Just curious about other Husky howling habits and if anyone else has a somewhat quiet girl/guy lol.

My girl rarely says anything. My new male never says anything. Certain times of the year my girl will howl over sirens but not all the time.

Kohdi, my boy, will talk your ear off, I swear he's having full on conversations sometimes. Mishka, my girl...barely hear a peep out of her. Never ever talks. Only time I hear a woo woo out of her is when something is bothering her (like once or twice when my alarm has gone off but I wasn't right there to turn it off) or sometimes I hear her talking to her toys when they don't cooperate with her, but that's it.

Every morning when we first get up and make breakfast Harlow talks to us for a good 3-4 minutes which sounds cute/fun but it's literally every day she also talks to us when we get home in the evening it is cute and fun at the same time as it is annoying

Our Suka woo-woos a little but she never howls. She is more of a groaner....when she stretches or when I rub her belly. It is hilarious! She doesn't bark very often but we had a run in with a coyote on our walk last week and she had the scariest most bad-ass growl I've ever heard!

Mars did not start howling/talking till about 1 1/2.  He woos to greet us home; yaps/talks when he thinks we're going for a walk without him (complaining) or wants to be where we are (same side of the fence); and barks only in play with us or other dogs.  Other than that, he is very quiet.

Rorschach used to talk more when he was younger. Now he only talks when he knows it's food time.
He does bark...a lot. Thought that was rare with Huskies, but I got a barker.

He will howl at sirens. Any police, ambulance, or fire siren he hears will set him off. Our fire sirens go out over the city wide system too, so he hears that every time. Thank god they no longer use that for the 10pm curfew or it would be every night also.
I find it adorable. He perks up, looks around, starts howling with the siren.
Our other dog (non-husky) is totally confused by this behavior. The first couple times he was really anxious about it, the next couple times he though Rorschach was in pain, so he'd lick his face and try to comfort him. After that he tried to join in and howl also, but he gave up after a time or two. Now he just leaves the area and lets him howl.

Ami talks to us in greeting.  When he wants food.  When we go for a ride.  When his leash comes out.  Not much in the conversational stuff.  I've only heard him howl twice in the 3.5 years we've had him.

Z'ev.  He doesn't howl either, talks to us in greeting but that's it.

My first girl, Sasha, from many many years ago.  Now she was a talker.  Big time.  Long conversations with that girl.  Not much spontaneous howling but we would have howl fests together.  I miss that.

Leo almost never talks, very really dose he talk if we're lucky haha.

Mylo howled for the first time at around 5 or 6 months old, I remember that day clearly ha.

Anyways, Mylo will howl at us when we come back home after being out for several hours: wooo wooo rooo ("hey where the hell have ya'll been!?") its cute.

When there's people in the house that he doesn't see often...oh boy he won't let them speak and keep harking (howlbark).

He especially goes along with me when its just me and him we will just be wooo wooooing together all over the house lol He's shy when I try to trigger him to howl around my girlfriend or anyone else.

He has never cared for the sound of sirens.

Oh and whenever I start playing my acoustic guitar....he will just start singing a tune wooo wooo aoaoaoaoooo...then I start woooing and were basically singing some kind of song together lol.

And he barks when he hears distant noises like when its quiet in the house and hears something outside he will get all suspicious and do a little barking. Also whenever the door bell rings...oh goodness he will never learn that its people he already knows that will be coming in 99% of the time...but he just starts barking

So in conclusion...Mylo is a howler
More of a barker than talker.

My three are definitely on the non-verbal end of the stick.

Avalanche barks when something is going on that he wants to bring to my attention, he will howl if I'm playing a vid - guess he thinks it's "Mitch Miller" time (okay, no one knows what that is, look it up!)
Sasha, I have never heard her howl!  When she wants something it's more of a whine.
Sky, will do a very quiet "woo-woo" to get attention and sometimes just because.

Even when Sky and Avalanche are play fighting there are seldom any vocalizations, the occasional "yip! that hurt!" but not the growling I see on some of the videos.
