| Just wanted to show everyone how Chinuk is doing down here in the hot Texas weather... It's 45' degrees this morning and I found the rotten brat curled up on the couch this morning. |

| That "it's my spot look" I get to see often. They have a way of claiming the couch so well. _________________ |

| Does anybody have a secret they'd share on getting a Husky to fetch and retrieve... I know it's asking a lot but, I know I've seen it. |

It could be more interesting, he could be helping with that hole you're digging ... but it's a good bet that he wouldn't like where you dug and want to start a hole of his own. All three of mine will walk with me; two out of the three will play with each other (Sasha's a stick in the mud!); but if they're not doing one of those - they're doing the same thing that Chinuk does ... lay around and watch me. What happens if you go around the back of your property where he can't see you - my bet is that he'll follow you in a few minutes (if that); he's comfortable, he just wants to be with you until you're ready to do something he wants. - Texas Husky wrote:

I know it's asking a lot but, I know I've seen it. "Fetch", now wait a minute I have to go check the dictionary. Oh, you mean you throw something and he looks at it, then at you as much as if to say "You threw it, you go get it!" Of my three, Avalanche will retrieve the Jolly ball if I toss / kick it - a couple of times. He'll also bring back the rope knot - a couple of times. Baseball sized balls - nope. I know that we have a couple of people here whose Sibe will retrieve but I'm betting that the great majority of them won't / don't. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| My Siberian Lucy seems to enjoy retrieving in our backyard. Or maybe she just doesn't want our other dog to get it first! Either way, I throw the ball, she goes and brings it back to me...it didn't require any training or anything...GREAT pictures BTW, looks fun. |

| Leo wasn't interested in playing fetch. i did find a way to teach him to bring it back; i made a small cut into a tennis ball and but food into it. i made sure he could see it going in and it was small enough that he couldn't get the food out by himself and only i could get it out for him. it took a wail to get him to do it without food but now he dose it just to play.
at the dog park picks up other dogs ball when he is tired and checks them for food and not sure if it had to do with how i trained him. i'm sure that its my fault. |

| Rorschach loves to chase and kill. Throw anything and he'll chase it down, attack it, and viciously swing it around in his mouth like he's trying to break the neck of a small animal. Doesn't matter what it is. Stuffed animal, frisbee, ball, toy...anything. He gets so into the killing side of things that I can't even get his attention in order to call him back and work on the retrieving part. Eventually he'll wander back to chew on his kill at my feet, but he protects his kill.
Throw something else and he'll go back into chase and kill mode though. So we play fetch, it just takes multiple toys and a lot of time. |

| So Chinuk decided to go for a walk by himself this morning and scare half the neighbors. Now he wants one of his PB treats because he thinks he did good... He did good gettin' in the dang truck before the dog catcher came around the corner when he did! What a stinker. |

| So... here we have the semi-final stage of Chinuk's first blow out of his winter coat. I'm curious to see how this is gonna go down, now that we are living in Texas and not the arctic tundra anymore. |

| @aljones @VTHokieHusky @RedFlashFire05 @Kmanweiss @PollyRThank You all for your input. I remember when we lived in the "North", I tried sticking a peanut butter biscuit in a snowball. I would let Chinuk sniff and throw it, Yeah. I got a look from him "Why the heck in tar nation did you roll my biscuit into a snowball and throw it!!! Human-Dude, what's up with you, do I have to train you on everything?!" Needless to say the look on his face was priceless, head cocked n' everything and I didn't get a picture. However, we have a fenced in, "Semi-Houdini Husky" proofed yard, and I threw just his biscuit. And... He ran like the dickens! So I think I'm on to something here with all your input, Thank You everyone! |
