Hey everyone,

So I meet a woman who had a short haired Husky Female and the other day a met someone else who Husky was wooly Male if those two breed how would the puppys come out with short hair like there mother or wooly hair like there father and also can there litter produce Quality puppies even though there coats are different?

P.S THESE ARE NOT MY DOGS JUST WONDERING.

Since the wooly gene is the recessive in the pair, my guess would be that 75% of a litter would be 'normal' (short haired) and 25% would be wooly.  But that also really depends on the genetic heritage of the pair.
If the male were a 'full wooly' (which he must be to be a wooly) and moms parents were 50% wooly then the odd would simply reverse themselves.

Now would someone who really know and maybe has experience like to answer this 'theoretical' question.

The last half of your question, since all of the litter would contain the wooly gene - which is a fault for Siberians - then, no they would be unable to produce quality pups - by definition.

First dilemma is even considering breeding the dog with the extremely incorrect coat type would be unethical.  Second, without knowing what is behind the dam there is no telling what you could end up producing.  Since Woolie is a recessive gene both parents would have to carry the gene to produce it....but you would likely see it pop up in at least 25% of the litter produced

Thanks learned a couple a new things.. so a Quality Siberian Husky with both parents with the correct genes would not have at least 1 wooly pup or is there still a chance that the genes could produce one wooly and the rest quality.?

Also..
Can you tell at an early age if the pups would be wooly or short haired.?
