| Hey guys,
I just wanted a concise outline to bringing home a puppy. Kygo is 3 years old now. The only time I introduced him to a friend's puppy was when I first got him and it didn't go over well. I contribute it to our own body language. Anyway, I am bringing a new baby agouti husky into the house in 6 weeks as his little brother. Looking for some tips on how to do this smoothly. |

| Start by introducing scent. Take something that smells like Kygo to the pup and visa versa. Let them become familiar with the smell. When you bring pup home, take it in and bath it in the same shampoo you use for Kygo and dry him. Having the scent of the house and you on the puppy will help to ease the transition and make the puppy smell more like it belongs there. Most of all, just be calm about it. Don't let his former reactions cloud how he could react now. If he is good with other dogs, especially small dogs, then all should go well. I would hold puppy and offer Kygo a chance to smell the pup's back for a while and see how it goes. If he gets overly excited pull away and give him time to calm down then represent the pup. Nurture calmness. _________________ |

| Neutral territory.
It's very important not to make your established dog feel like the new dog is an invader.
You want the established dog to be curious about the puppy, not trying to defend it's space/belongings from the puppy. Introduce them gradually in controlled environments. The scent idea that Jenn talked about is a great idea. Never thought about trying that before. |
