| Hi all, New to the forum and have been trawling the internet and this forum for information on the quantity you should be feeding your husky pup. From what I've found most feed their fully grown sibes 2 cups a day of TOTW. I'm in the process of switching my 4 month old from Royal Canin medium puppy to TOTW puppy and then eventually at 9-12 months to the adult food. Looks like the feeding guide on the bag is way off for the husky breed. So my question was how much should I be feeding as a general guide for 4, 5, 6 months onwards etc.
Currently we feed her (320grams a day) 160grams in the morning and 160grams at night + a handful of treats during the day. She seems healthy and happy with this quantity and weighs about 13kg, with no loose stools ever. Because of the difference in the brands I thought I'd check first before upping or lowering her quantity.
P.S: Royal Canin recommend upping to 330grams at 5 months then dropping back to 300grams a day after 7 months
Thank you again for the already expansive information I've read from your members on here and sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere |

| Feeding guides typically overfeed dogs by a long shot.
I personally would feed the same amount with the new food and see how her weight and stools react to the change. When I transitioned foods, I didn't change the amounts until I could see any sort of effect on the dog.
I fed my boy when he was a puppy 3 cups daily and then fed 2.5-2 cups between the age of 9 months and 18 months, then lowered it down to 1.5 cups a day.
To me it's more of a look and feel. Feed more if you feel the dog is losing weight / getting too skinny and feed less if the dog is gaining weight / looking too fat. Once you find that balance, then feed consistently. _________________ |
