| I have a wonderful dog that people have told me is shiba inu/husky or akita mix. She is orange in color with a saddle back, white stomach, white under tail and back of legs, no mask. Talks constantly to us like our other husky did years ago. Is there any way to submit a photo to get other people's responses? |

| I was a little confused at first as well. It is fairly easy if you follow the instructions at the link Tori posted. I had a little problem figuring out that I had to download some free software at servimg.com in order to attach the image. There is a strange copy and paste step, but it works... eventually. Keep trying. I don't even use Photobucket. I just browse and select picture files that are on my hard drive.

| Another on her back. I really don't see any shepherd other that maybe the saddleback. Comments are appreciated. Wonderful dog! She is a sweetie! |

| Awwww, she's a cutie! I see some husky-like qualities in the shape of her face, nose, ears, etc. Is her fur fluffy with an undercoat? Does her tail usually arch over her back? |

| I think the nose looks like a "snow nose". She's a cutie! Does she have husky mannerisms: like howling and not much barking or running away if not on a leash or believing that strangers are just friends she hasn't met yet?? |

| Here she is standing. She does have a fluffy undercoat, very protective of the home and us, she doesn't bark a whole lot unless someone passes she doesn't know or she cries wanting to go out to see what is going on. Talks to us all the time, moving head back and forth like she knows exactly what we are saying, maybe she does! We live in Missouri so maybe her hair is not as fluffly, I don't know. If off a leash she used to run like crazy, she has slowed that down some now.. Opinions? |

| The protectiveness, wary of strangers, etc is NOT husky; however it is VERY shiba inu. Shiba Inus also have an undercoat and curl their tails. Honestly, I see a lot more shiba inu in her physique and personality than I do husky.
She still COULD be part husky, but that other part could really be a number of breeds. It's impossible to tell for sure. I think the definition and shape of her head isn't very indicative of a husky as it seem a bit thinner and more defined. I think she was likely crossed with a shorter hair breed, but that's just my guess.
A shiba inu/husky is a definite possibility but I don't think you will ever know more than that.

| Thank you so much for your input, I really appreciate it. I'd love to know what she is but like you said, probably never will. Her weight at 45 lbs and her height at 21.5 really throws me off a bit. But thank you again! |

| I think a sheba is around 20 lbs-25 lbs. and much shorter. |

| I agree with Tori. The Shiba Inu pictures online also have ears more like your girl's. I've never known a Shiba Inu to know their personalities. |

| Right, but that's the point She's a mix and she could be mixed with a variety of different breeds to get her size and coloring. The saddle back pattern doesn't necessarily have to come from a breed that has a saddle-back. With mixes, it could just be formed naturally. Again, I'm not saying that she's NOT a husky. I just don't see enough husky in her to definitely say that husky is her cross. I see a LOT more Shiba Inu who shares a lot of traits with huskies, which clouds my ability to say for sure. So her second breed could be anything-- she could even be crossed with 3 or 4 breeds if her other parent was a mutt. What throws me is her face. The definition in her face is not Shiba Inu and it's not husky. It's more reminiscent of a lab or another short-haired breed. MAYBE pitt? But it's hard to tell for sure. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Her face reminds me of an Akita. I would say she is more of an Akita mix than Husky. I know a couple who come to the dog park around me that have a dog who looks similar. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | Here are a couple of Shiba Inu's...They kind of look like your girl, but Shiba-Inu's are around 20lbs. Akita females are around 80 lbs. Maybe she's part Akita and part Shiba Inu? _________________ |

| Oh! Good call on the Akita! That could DEFINITELY be where the definition comes from in her face, and her size. And their personalities are very similar to Shibas. They have a more protective streak to them that huskies lack all together. She looks and sounds like a great dog! Just be careful with renting and/or homeowners. Unfortunately, because of this protective streak, BOTH Shibas and Akitas are on many insurance companies banned breeds list (completely unreasonably anyway) but you would have to find an insurance company that goes by bite history rather than breed. Either way, please feel free to stick around the forum if you wish! She's beautiful and sounds like a great dog! Here are some Akitas: _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Once again, you may be correct. I had thought about that too, a good weight for her if she is a mix. Gosh, I can't imagine mixing a shiba at 20 lbs and an Akita at 80. I guess it can be done. She does seem to have the face. |
