Simon and I will be moving into an apartment for a bit while I am going to school. I'm not super worried because for a husky he is a pretty mellow easy going guy. Also we bike and walk every day so he gets a ton of exercise.
I don't know how many of you live in smaller place but any tips or suggestions would be great.

Not anymore but did a stint in a smaller place for a while. Best thing I could do was take my dog as many places as possible. Not just take him out for walks and structured exercise but just when I'm running to post office or farmer's market. Take him to a ball game. Anything to just be out of the house. And set your furniture up so there is open floor space as best as possible. I think it helps to take some of the shock away of being in a much smaller area if, even if it looks a little funny, there are open areas.

I've lived in an apartment the entire time I've had my husky and hiking, going to outdoor festivals, and taking her on my errands all help out with the excess energy. Our outdoor mall is super dog friendly and most stores allow dogs in and even have full water bowls at the doorways. Mochi was a little hyper and destructive when she was a puppy but now I don't even need to leave her in the crate when I'm at work for 8 hours. I come home after work and she's just chilling on the bed, and nothing is destroyed.

Lance seems to be extremely well mannered in apartments. We stay at my boyfriend's apartment often and he is always so calm and well behaved. At my house (where he has plenty of room and a big backyard) he is ALWAYS running, sprinting, or even jumping on furniture without permission if he's hyper.

If you're worried about his behavior while left alone post-move, a Kong/treat ball filled with peanut butter keeps mine entertained for at least an hour. ESPECIALLY if I do a layer of peanut butter on the outside of the ball.

As long as he gets a lot of exercise, you should be pretty well set! Good luck with school and your move!

Update. Over all I haven't found it that difficult living in a small space with Simon it's a lot of walks and bike rides. Also now that the weather has cooled off I take him in the car with me basically anytime I have to go anywhere. The biggest issue is making sure that Simon doesn't talk to much late at night. I figure during the middle of the day if the people around hear a little wooing it's not a big deal but I wouldn't like it at 6 am. That mostly has to do with getting him enough exercise and not hyping him up when it's not okay for him to talk. However when I go home and visit about once a month it seems so nice and easy having a yard and enough space inside for him to run around.

Elise - you hit the nail on the head with the late night "chatter" Not a problem at home but when we travel. Oi vey. Usually we get into the motel late, Ami's been stuck in a car...he gets into the hotel room and gets super excited. Proceed with zoomies and woo woo woo at full voice Which is why I am walking a dog in the middle of the night for 1-2 hours in strange places on streets I don't know...
