| Hey guys! *I'm gonna try to be descriptive in my issue..so its a long read* My girlfriend recently pointed out something about Mylo. There's a day he doesn't want to have breakfast or lunch sometimes he will even skip dinner but generally just the previous two meals. Along with this, theres gurgling sounds coming from his tummy. While I do know that sounds from the tummy are good cause that means his tummy is working through whatever is in there BUT I started tracking this to really see how often it happens..and for the past three weeks, this has happened on Thursday...kinda weird right? He poops normal and doesn't throw up or anything though just the sounds from his tummy and no appetite. I should note that of course he is interested in our food. All other days hes happy and excited for mealtime. No we don't give him scraps. I'm not sure when this started happening but I never really thought much of it or kept up with it but now we are starting to feel a little concerned. This isn't just something that just started happening this month or anything..it has been going on for a while. It never happens for longer than a day. He has always been on a religious constant meal schedule ever sense he was a young puppy. This is weird. I know what is gonna be asked, what he eats or chews on on the weekly basis.. well we feed him Fromm grain free kibble, he gets to enjoy his elk split antler for a few minutes supervised, minimal treats from fromm, merrick, and k9 granola brand, peanut butter every other day while I brush him, oh and bottled water or water from the big 5 gallon water jug. Thats about it as far as what we provide for him. Could he be developing some serious stomach problem? Thanks to all in advance!

| Well, I'll tell you what, Dave - if it is it's a Texas problem. Okay, facetiousness aside ... Sasha, who's a wolf when it comes to food, tends to eat lighter during the summer. She eats 'breakfast' (say 8:00AM), but may leave some; then when it's supper time (say 7:00PM) she eats everything - including breakfasts leftovers. Treats, none except the glucosamine "treat" late at night.
When she doesn't eat everything in the morning her stomach 'rumbles' off and on during the day. After her evening meal, it settles down.
My logic goes something like this: It's hot and by 8:00 it's already hot (90's) and she's not particularly active. 7:00PM, while it's not a lot cooler, the sun isn't as direct and we'll go out for a while and she gets to run, then comes in hungry. I'm thinking that early morning she's just simply not really hungry (she's skipped meals in the morning), it's hot and she's uncomfortable. By the time evening rolls around she's been up, probably been outside two to four times and is developing an appetite.
I'm rambling and this isn't coming out right .... if the tummy rumble were constant, I'd run her by the vet; if her appetite were consistently bad, I'd <ditto>; if she didn't want to go out, <ditto>. But since she's more or less normal (as normal as she can be) I'm not all that concerned.
Now why this thing is a Thursday thing with Mylo .... you got me, guy??? _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Dave....could be hunger grumbles, but too hot to eat? What exactly are the treats, yes they are from excellent companies but maybe, unknowingly you give the same treat every Wednesday and therefore his appetite is different on Thursdays? Typically tummy grumbles means upset tummy, so, I would continue the journal but get more specific with it. Sounds to me like there is something that you do every Wednesday or Thursday that is totally different than the rest of the days of the week. Do any of the treats have any type of grain? That may be the issue too. Both of my girls are not big eaters in the morning, in fact yesterday Miya ate all of her breakfast (which is almost not like her at all) and Sofie ate only half of hers (again not like her at all), the weather does indeed play a role like Al mentioned. |

| Hey everyone! I couldn't take it anymore, once a week for the past three months or so? that doesn't sound normal. I had to see what the vet had to say about it. So I finally decided to take Mylo to the vet to see what she thought about this issue. I told her my concerns and talked about what he eats and she did a stool sample test...he's clean as expected. She gave me some probiotic supplement powder stuff to give for 30 days and advised me to change his food to a simpler recipe with a single protein source. The Fromm food I've been feeding has duck, salmon, and chicken. So maybe by keeping it to one meat source might make a difference. Before changing food again, I decided to stick with Fromm and got the chicken recipe kibble. In the end the vet said to try this out before moving further in to blood work or considering this a GI problem. Sighh I wish I just knew whats up already. To be honest I was expecting someone to mention the possibility of this being a GI problem when I started the thread |

| I feel like I must have been asleep when this started. Or I didn't catch it the first time I read this. What bottled water are you giving? Many bottled waters cause cramps and general discomfort. It could be a certain mineral that doesn't sit well, some brands chlorinate their water or the bottles as well. _________________ |

| Hey thanks for chiming in! I also thought about it being about water but I forgot to mention that to the vet. We have always given him water we drink..either ozarka or nestle bottled water. Also we do the big 5 gallon water jug we fill up from one of them water vending stations. |

| I know nestle has issues with their water. Anything tap water has chlorine in it. Nestle and Dasani are really bad about fortified mineral additives and chlorine treating their bottles. Can't remember about ozarka. You may look at the Britta filters that pull out chlorine and fluoride. I have also read where some bottled waters strip out too much in their processes and drinking it too much can cause vitamin deficiency. Lot of people switching to spring water. _________________ |

| My two always have issues with bottled water! They can only drink tap. I always thought I was doing the greatest thing by them by giving them bottled, lol, but it truly hasn't been the case. They are weirdos though, they will ask to go outside just to drink the water out there, instead of the bowl in the house...must have to do with the temperature of the water cuz it comes from the same tap.
Hope it's nothing serious with Mylo!!! Keep us updated |

| Hmmm interesting. I grew up being told the tap is bad so I find it very hard to let Mylo drink that...but I'm willing to try something else for the sake of seeing some kind of change. @Twisterll 95% of the time it's ozarka but thanks for that info wow. I'm not sure what to do about the water but me and my gf are discussing it. I'll read on them filters. @Artic_WindFunny thing about the temperature thing.. Mylo loves to drink new cold water being poured on his bowl. Generally at my gf's house he gets served water from the 5 gallon jug. It's at my house that he gets bottled water. @RedFlashFire05 Oh wow issues with #2? Like diarrhea? |

| Dave agree on the water. Miya sometimes is super scary smart, in that as a pup I used bottled water for her water bowl. She would never drink from it, she 90% of the time drinks from the bathtub faucet. Sofie was a bowl drinker, so I would give her the nice cold bottle water, and between that and chicken yep diarrhea, and with Miya as a younger pup, same thing only grains and bottle water. Jimmy mentioned it to me with Sofie, and now I fill bottles of tap water and put them in the fridge, and no problems, and Miya will drink out of her water bowl more often with tap vs bottle. Just my observations. |

| So today marks a week since I started giving Mylo that probiotic supplement powder on his new (single protein) chicken food [kibble]. I couldn't get myself to give him straight tap so I did strictly water from the big 5 gallon jug that we go fill up at them vending stations. I was like wow he's been eating all week, great..but then booom..this morning he skipped breakfast, threw up a little bit of white liquid (very little) and then also skipped lunch.. but I'm sure he will eat dinner right now in a few minutes. He's been pooping good as usual but no tummy sounds this time though. So in the end, here goes another 'once a week mylo mystery' to put on the calendar. I'm gonna give it another week then back to the vet again. |

| Dave, it might not be connected...not saying don't be concerned but just that it could be something different. Kohdi has been skipping morning meals off and on for about a month now (maybe a little more) and once in awhile throwing up in the morning...not actual food or anything, just a yellowish liquid. Kohdi is perfectly normal otherwise though so I'm not sure what to make of it cuz he acts his normal self in every other way. I'm thinking maybe weather related, cuz it's been so hot and sometimes humid, but I don't know for sure. Often both Mishka and Kohdi will pick something up off the ground they shouldn't, and cause symptoms like this, and I know like the pits from olive trees (this neighborhood has quite a few of them), the fruit or seeds from palm trees (sago palm seeds are poisonous) and this neighborhood has plenty of these too so one thing maybe to make sure of is to watch him carefully when he's out that he's not picking things up off the ground he shouldn't be, it happens in the blink of an eye. Mishka is lightning fast with it! |

| I am not sure on the white liquid stuff that Mylo threw up, but I can answer Jimmy's problem. With Kohdi if it is first thing, without eating and it is a yellow color and small amount, it is an empty stomach. From what I understand, because Miya does it too occasionally in the morning, and I have read it is bile, I think from the liver, caused by an empty stomach. Suggestions for that is to feed a light snack before bed, or feed dinner a little later. Hope that helps Jimmy, and Dave, maybe feeding a light snack in the evening may help as well???? |

| @Artic_Wind Yeah now I think it was just coincidence and its not connected. I had forgotten about it just being "bile" like @MiyasMomma mentioned. It is not the first time Mylo throws up like that and its like a white ish yellow ish fluid but its been a while so maybe thats why I thought too much of it. What I didn't mention is that I had to leave him alone for a few hours on Sunday at my gf's house so maybe he got a little something somewhere in the house or a bug. He did have watery diarrhea last night so that doesn't connect with the "stomach case" at all. Good thing is that he's been back to normal today and eating as usual. I just overreacted with all the this tracking the situation I've been doing haha. So I won't count this incident, let's see how it goes this week. Oh and about the feeding later thing, most of the time Mylo will get dinner at 7 or the latest at 8. I feel weird feeding him a meal later than that. Plus, he starts shutting down at around 9. *reflecting mode* ...It still surprises me how much I care for this pup, I never thought I would end up having a dog let alone owning and loving one! |

| @Renee..,thank you! They do eat early (about 3pm), and afterwards (a couple hours) they go on the 5 mile walk, so I'm sure that food gets depleted quickly. They do get a treat a time or two (or 3 ) afterwards right up until bed time (last one is given for going pee when I let them out each nite) so I'd think his stomach isn't *that* empty, but I also know treats dint actually hold very much nutritional value either so I will take your advice and give him a little something more substantial. @Dave, please keep keeping us posted |

| Hey everyone! Who's ready for a long read? Wanna to skip to the main point? scroll down to the last paragraph Mylo's mysterious stomach issue continues. We have tried a few things to see if anything changed.. -We stopped giving him bottled water. -Even though I hate having to change his food to something new...we felt it was worth it to see if maybe it was Fromm kibble causing any problems. Since TOTW is popular here, I went ahead and gave that a try. Also to change it up, we decided to exclude chicken from being part of the new food just to see if chicken is a problem with him. So he's been on TOTW Pacific Stream for almost three weeks. -Added a "bed time" snack. I read somewhere that feeding a later "bed time" snack helps some dogs. Something about their stomach acids don't have anything to do over night so that results in bile vomit and tummy sounds. It's not like Mylo vomited every day or had tummy sounds everyday so this didn't really apply to him...but we decided to give a "bed time" snack a try to see if any good came of it. His eating schedule has always been- half cup at 9am, half cup at 2pm, full cup at 7pm. In order to try this bed time snack I felt like just splitting his full cup from dinner so it became half cup at 7pm and half cup at 9:30 for one week and at 10pm for another week. All this has changed nothing. He still continues to puke up bile on Tuesday mornings followed by tummy sounds for hours, has no appetite until dinner time. We feel sad about him not eating so we give him some wet food mixed with his kibble a little bit after the dinner portion on Tuesday. As I've said before, he poops normal during all this. No diarrhea. Only morning vomit, tummy sounds, and no appetite. In fact as I was typing this he just vomited (3am) so their ya go Tuesday morning. He probably won't feel like eating later as usual. This concludes the tracking of Mylo's tummy mystery for August. He was consistently strangely sick every single Tuesday of this month...just like in July. Me and my gf feel the need to get deeper in to this situation so we are gonna take him to another vet to get a 2nd opinion cause this sure don't seem normal. Also his current vet clinic is a walk in clinic, we never get the same doctor so we feel the need to get someone consistent. At the beginning of this month, I emailed and explained the situation to a really good vet and they gave me an estimate of the tests they will run on Mylo. It's not as much I imagined so I told that vet that if nothing changes within a month then I will go through with the tests. I'll be making the call for the big appointment either today or tomorrow. I still have to get his medical records from the current vet, has anyone had to ask for their pups medical records? I'm not sure how to go about it. In the end even if all the exams show nothing, me and my gf will feel better that we tried everything we could to see if anything was wrong. Here I am with the baby Oh and here is what will be going on at the new vet |

| Just walk up to the counter and say "I would like to get a copy of my dog's medical records", it shouldn't be that strange for them. I get vaccination records all the time for vacation but there are other places like boarding facilities and such that like to have medical records on file as well so they shouldn't give you the stink eye or anything for requesting a copy of the records. Not to mention it is just a good idea to have a copy of your own in case something happens while you are on vacation and you have to use a different vet at least that vet can quickly see your dog's history.
I wonder if there isn't something that is being sprayed every week in your area. Like someone has their house fogged for mosquitoes once a week and he is catching it on the wind. _________________ |

| Good luck with Mylo! Let us know how it goes of course. The regularity of it is very strange. Like Jenn and Ronin have said, maybe look into a pattern in the environment going on around you. I suppose it could also be that it takes about a weeks worth of gunkiness to build up enough the cause the visible symptoms, but a thorough look into things going on around you specifically on the day before he starts throwing up (in this case a Monday...I say it cuz of it being 3am now that he vomited, so while technically it's Tuesday, he hasn't really been exposed to the Tuesday goings on) anyways, we want Mylo getting better so whatever you find out, please let us know. |

| Ronin, excellent link you left...I will add only 2 things....firstly I would stick to turkey burger, or a lean hamburger, so hamburger I would use 85/15 or even 90/10, too much fat in a bland diet may continue with the disruption, as far as the chicken advice, hard to find chicken burger, but I also personally believe dogs have sensitivities anymore with chicken (most kibble has chicken in it, so therefore it is the most common protein for allergies), and add a tablespoon per meal of pure canned pumpkin (not pie filling) and a tablespoon per meal of greek yogurt or kefir.
I really hope Dave, you get to the bottom of this, it does sound like it may be environmental, since it is always the same day of the week. So I would investigate the county and see if they spray for mosquitoes, I know in Florida they did once a week,, in the evening, so this could indeed be the issue, maybe on his morning walk he picks up residue on his paws, and once home cleans his paws, and that is how he is picking it up, just a thought. Please keep us posted on this.

| Thank you everyone for chiming in on the thread! I can explain the lack of a quicker response since Tuesday... So when I'm finally determined to make the call for the big tests...turns out Mylo was just fine, no tummy sounds, he ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner My goodness it's like Mylo knew he was about to have an appointment about to be placed for him. Me and my gf thought hmmm maybe he will be sick tomorrow (Today)..but nope he's good and happy, he's been eating his meals. I guess we should keep watching and tracking like we've been doing for like the past three months...we didn't get very tight with it until last month so it's been two months of serious tracking. My gf doesn't know how I am able to post all my concerns here like this, I think it's fun to have a community such as this to have opinions. See I both of us never even thought about it possibly being about environment! Although I don't have the slightest idea how to find out about hat stuff. I will keep this thread alive, I'm sure this isn't the end of this. |

| For starters, call Harris County Mosquito Control (713) 440-4800 and see if they do a weekly spray in your area. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |
