| I was wondering if there's such a thing as a "tri" in husky fur. I understand that the white balance on the photo is also yellow, but that is partly because at night we light our home with those old-fashioned looking Edison Lighbulbls (we have patio lights of these strung across the ceiling for ambiance). They give off a yellowish glow as opposed to natural white light. So with that in mind, you can clearly see the orange of the color, brown of the wood, pink in the flipflop, etc is fairly natural. So you can also see the brown patches of fur at the bottom of Kairo's black around her legs. There isn't a lot of it, but it's definitely there. Just curious as to how natural this is, and if there's such a thing as a "tri" or similar for huskies? For all I know it's natural for a black/white to have tinges of brown and I'll come across showing my ignorance |

| Others will be able to answer better, but it's definitely possible. My boy has cream, grey, black in his coat (a white tip on the tail and white socks on his feet haha). The pic below isn't great but shows his colouring. There's also an agouti colour (which I'd say Kairo is not, I'm not sure if mine is) that has multi banded hairs and gives a brindle/multi colour look to the coat. I also read on here in a thread, that brown in black & whites can be caused by sun damage to the coat (but that was dark brown not cream)

| Hm .... let's see, my silver / white has a shading of brown on her back legs; my black / white has the same on her legs, but also has some brown on her neck / ears. Off topic / unrelated: My Alaskan is such a mix of colours that anything is possible depending on the way he's standing or the way the sun is shining.
My two sibes, like yours have a trace of brown just above their hock so I'd have to say that either we have three odd dogs (well, they are Huskies) or it's normal. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Tan or brown 'scrubbing' is not uncommon in black/white and grey/white Siberians. Often found on the hocks, and sometimes behind the ears. Though this does not factor into their color classification. So no, this would not be factored as a 'tri' like you would see in BCs and Aussies. No worries about coming off as sounding new, the Siberian 'rainbow' is a large one with many colors and patterns to enjoy. Anything from nearly pure black to pure white are accepted, patterns included Agouti (not a color but a pattern), splash, and Pibald. The only patterns that are not genetically possible in the breed are Merle and Brindle.

| Our Mia has auburn on the back of her legs like him, too! We always tease her and tell her she needs a bath. His coat color may change slightly while you have him, too! That's one of my favorite parts about puppyhood-Lukas coat seems to shift slightly on the daily! |

| This is great information and really cool to learn about! I wondered if Merl was possible. I think Merles are beautiful. DJ thought she was dirty too and apologized for bringing her ungroomed - it was after I got her groomed that I realized it was actually fur! |

| Though Merle can be pretty, on breed appropriate breeds, it can also come with a plethora of its own health concerns. Thankfully our breed is free of the gene and yet our breed still remains one of the more diverse in color and pattern allowances **I say thankfully as we have an extreme pibald gene which creates our whites, which could easily mask the gene making the accidental doubling of the merle gene far too easy to occur. |

Don't need anymore variations...I have enough problems explaining "wooly" Siberian and "yes, red is a color for Siberians, they can be all the way from jet black to red to pure white and almost anything in between..." |

| I'm going to say yes. I have a pure bred Siberian named Goochk whose mother was a sable piebald...and whose father was a majestic black & white with a show dog parents wet dream for a face mask. lol My piebald at first glance is white with black patches. Upon closer inspection there are tints of the sable from his mother. His markings, as well as all his piebald siblings, are nearly identical to his piebald mothers...only the color varied among them and we have noted that though they appear black and white...many of the siblings share the sable tints. |
