2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. House Sitter Empty
PostSubject: House Sitter   House Sitter EmptyTue Jun 21, 2016 2:31 pm

So my fiance and I are getting married this saturday, and his mother booked for us a 2 week honeymoon overseas (which is another story, entirely). We've got the dogs all squared away (they're being boarded at the vets office in the deluxe suite, together). We're having a friend house-sit and take care of our guinea pigs while we're out, which is all good.

My question is actually our house sitters question that I don't have an answer to, so I was hoping y'all might have some insight. Our friend brings his own dog with him everywhere, and was planning on bringing her with him when he's at the house. He said he would just keep her out in the yard, but I feel badly for her being stuck outside all the time. I wasn't sure if it would be okay for our dogs to bring the other dog in the house while we're out. His dog is vaccinated, I just wasn't sure if the smell of another dog in the house would be bad or upsetting (whatever verbage would apply), if they don't know the dog and they've been out of the house for 2 weeks.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I don't see any problem with letting your housesitter's dog in the house while your dogs are away. When they get home they may smell a strange scent, but as long as there is not some strange dog physically in the house when they get home, there shouldn't be a problem. They will probably just sniff around for a while until they decide that there is no threat there. I would think that they would find the whole yard more disturbing as the new dog will have marked the property, but they will just re-mark it as their own anyhow.
