I do give them as is. If you think there's a little too much extra skin, you can take some off because too much skin (to bone ratio) may cause soft stool.

Ginger got a chicken thigh last night for dinner and her mid morning BM was mostly soft and mucousy around her BM. I almost could pick it up. My guess would be that is was too much muscle meat to bone or she really cannot tolerate chicken even raw after a certain amount. She does ok if she gets a drumstick which is more bone to meat ratio.

I told hubby not to give her raw chicken today at all and if it is still soft, maybe it's the ACV - but it's only a half tablespoon in a big bowl of water - about 4 cups.

Sounds like you're doing good by taking a simple step back to figure out what's bothering her. My boy gets like that too when there's less bone in his meal. Breast has a lot of meat and not that much bone and stuff like that tends to make him softer than normal. Worst case scenario you just don't feed that which doesn't work for her. At least we know that she can have some raw chicken.

Chicken backs should have a higher bone content so that might be another option to try in addition to her wings and drumsticks.

I doubt it's the ACV but you never know. Keep us updated and hopefully her tummy gets sorted soon!

I asked hubby to feed her drumsticks if he wants to give her raw while I'm out of town otherwise, I'll get more wings and drummettes or whole chickens and give her the wings, back and drumsticks.

I got home yesterday from my business trip. Ginger hasn't had raw chicken since Sunday and she sounded like she was back on track so I gave her a drumstick for dinner. And this morning her BM was still good.

So...I'm thinking chicken thighs has a little too much meat on it for her...

I'll stay with drumsticks until I run out of those, but will start looking for whole chicken on sale and I'll cut it up and save the back, drumsticks and wings for her and hubby and I will keep the breast and thighs for ourselves. Actually works out perfect because I do prefer chicken thighs and hubby prefers breast! Funny how that all worked out so perfectly!

Now...I found some turkey wings on sale, so I'm thinking next week, I'll cut one of those up in half (since they are huge!) and see how she does on turkey!

Turkey wings! I think Kody and Mya would like those! I don't think I've ever run into them though =( I hope they sit well with Ginger! =)

Oh, BTW, they've been doing really well on the chicken quarters. The only thing is that I think Mya eats it way too quick. She chews the bone, but not as much as she should. When I say quick...I mean she's done with it within 5minutes!

Ginger will probably finish a drumstick in about 5-7 minutes.

Oh no girl Mya is done with a drumstick in 2min Kody eats it normal...takes about 5min with a drumstick.

The leg quarters are pretty big so 5min is super fast! I'll have to take a pic of it and post it

Wow, Nikolai must be the pokiest eater ever. It takes him between about 10-15 minutes for a little wing... sometimes more.

Some are faster than others, my boy is slow and takes his time. He is getting faster the longer he's been eating raw. He used to take longer but now he downs a chicken quarter in 5 - 10 minutes.

Look how fast Mya eats this thing!

Ginger got half a turkey wing with her THK tonight - 2 oz of turkey wing...hopefully she'll still have a regular BM tomorrow....

Ginger's BM this morning is as usual
She'll get the other half of the turkey wing today at lunch.
Maybe she'll get a whole turkey wing for dinner tomorrow (4 oz.)

Nikolai switched over from wings to drumsticks today - he's doing well.

She went a little soft today after having her other half of the turkey wing (another 2 oz)...I think I'm gonna keep her drumsticks for now since turkey isn't as readily available and inexpensive as chicken.

I can't watch the vids of Kody and Mya since I'm in the mountains on slow internet but now I'm really intrigued by the responses of others.

Sorry to hear Ginger did not do so great on the turkey wings. Trial and error.

That's great that Nikolai is progressing though. Wasn't he finicky about raw?

Yep, at least we tried...she's back to normal with this morning's BM, so I'll go back to chicken drumstick today. Costco has whole chickens for $.99/lb so I think I'll go get me some whole chickens today.....
