These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. | Subject: Izzy's here!! Mon May 30, 2016 7:22 pm | |
| Hi everyone....okay so Izzy came on the plane this morning. She behaved in her crate but I could see how nervous she was when I finally got to her. She is beautiful and she seems to be a pretty good dog. She is calm (for now) discovering her new environment....I did have her meet Linus after a while...when we are walking outside they get along fine but in the house, Izzy snapped Linus a few times so I separated them to give Izzy time to get used to her new housemate...I exhausted my Lab so he wouldn't be on Izzy's tail all the time wanting to play and now I am just watching them closely... I got really worried when Izzy snapped and snarled...I read tons of advice on here about introducing new dogs and I am hoping they end up getting along...I'm scared to look away...always watching them to make sure no one gets hurt... Izzy is roaming the house, making a list of her next mischiefs I am sure...She is slowly approaching Linus so there is hope...Just not sure how to react when she shows aggressiveness.... There are tons of stray dogs around here and it doesn't look like she enjoys being approached by other dogs...not sure how to manage that also but otherwise, I am a happy and proud new momma! |

| Oh, c'mon now Karin she got flown into the back end of nowhere on a puddle jumper that had to be noisy as all get out and confronted by someone she didn't know and taken to meet a dog she doesn't know - give the girl a little slack I'd be confused and a bit testy as well!! That she's curious (traipsing the house) is, to me, a good sign = she wants to know where she is and what's going on around her. The worse case would be if she tried to hide (escape). The snapping at Linus isn't a major problem as long as there's no contact, she's just saying I don't know you and I'm not sure about what's going on and Leave me alone! I'd bet that they're going to be best buds by the end of the week - it just takes time. A suggestion for you for tonight - and maybe a couple of nights - if she's not scared to death of the crate, I'd crate her in your bedroom with you. It's safer for her to not be wandering around at least until she settles in some. My read of the first two pictures is tension, like she's ready to go ... the one at your place outside she seems more relaxed but still wary (not looking at you). On the topic of pictures, are you intentionally posting thumbnails. We don'[t mind if you post the bigger pictures - cause they are good!! _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| If you could get some info on what her old routine was it could be of some help for you. Feeding her at the same time, making sure she gets similar exercise at a similar time if possible. If she had any toys at her old home you could get for her to also have at your home. gives her a little bit of normal mixed in with all the new. _________________ |
