Cardiovascular arrhythmia? Empty
PostSubject: Cardiovascular arrhythmia?   Cardiovascular arrhythmia? EmptyTue May 17, 2016 11:30 pm

Hi everyone!

We took Repede and Bandit to the vet for their check up and vaccinations a couple of weeks ago. While there, the vet said that both of them looked great and she didn't vocalize any concerns with either of them. Well I just happened upon the paperwork today and gave it a closer look and realized that they listed Repede as having a cardiovascular arrythmia, which is new to us and they didn't say anything during the check up other than that he was nervous  (he really hates the rectal thermometer Laughing). So now I'm concerned that he has something that might be serious, but I don't know why the vet wouldn't say something to us unless it truly wasn't a concern of hers. Everything else checks out health wise--he's active, eats normally, normal BMs etc.

Should I be pushing to get this explored, or should I just let it be since the vet didn't have any concerns and since he's healthy otherwise?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This is one of those cases where I'd say "I was looking at the information you gave me about Repede ..." and basically ask her for an explanation.

One of my favourite medical sites for dogs really suggests that it might not be a real problem. It could be nothing more than a very rapid heartbeat from the rectal thermometer.

But I'd still call her .....

How many times has your vet seen Repede? If not very many she could just be keeping notes so that she can keep track of his heart and over time see if perhaps this is a thing or just nerves that cause his heart to go up. My vet every time I take keno in mentions that he has a very rapid heart rate, and then they say it's most likely just the nerves, but they mark the rate none the less. I definitely think it's worth an ask, but I wouldn't be too worried about it being something detrimental if they didn't say anything more about it at the visit.
