| So I have had a Siberian husky for over a year. Raised her from 6 weeks to today. She's a very good dog and the only fault I can find is how she doesn't like sharing food with other dogs, but if a human puts their hand by her bowl she won't do anything. Very obedient and great with kids, as well as other dogs at a local dog park. Now we only have one other dog who is about to be put down. Yesterday the breeder whom we got our only husky from reached out and said they had another litter, making this about 14-16 months later(roughly not sure) from the other litter. The mother is AKC and the father is on site, both normal sibes not huge or wolly. What do you fellow owners think about bringing in a new puppy in about june when its ready to leave the mother? I want our husky to have a friend for when the older one goes to doggy heaven per say... and being offered her brother seems really cool but i wanted to get opinion on this first from experienced husky owners and thats who i found myself here. |

| Having a second is nice. If your first is well balanced and needs being met then getting a second probably won't be an issue. I would be more questionable about the breeder than whether you are ready for the second. Puppies shouldn't leave their litter under 8 weeks and this breeder let you take your first way too early at 6 weeks. _________________ |

I should add that he had planned and told us 8 weeks but their vet said that everything was okay with the mothers enzymes and their shots going good. Right now with this litter is is also stated for them to be ready to go home at 8 weeks. Actually about 8 and a 1/2 according to the date of their birth and the date that they are supposed to be ready. |

| The 8 week (sometimes more) has a lot to do with puppies learning bite inhibition and things like that from their littermates as well, not just whether the puppy is healthy enough to leave its mother.
As for adding a second. The way you are doing it, is the way it was done in my family the whole time I was growing up. The only time I was without 2 huskies, was when they both passed away in the same month. Then I got my current boy, Kohdi, and a year later, Mishka. The only concern I can see in what you put in your OP, is your current husky guarding food from another dog, however, just feeding them in seperate areas would pretty much eliminate any problems. Good luck to you! |

Good luck to you! oh okay i see! then ill wait out the full 8 weeks! My current husky (mishka) has developed good I like to think in the area of biting. She is now at the age where she doesn't bite and even when playing rough with her she doesn't bite hard if at all. Hopefully with some work she can be more open to eating around other dogs but she seems to do this weird attack where she puts the other dog in a choke hold but doesn't actually bite the dog. But as you mentioned we feed one inside being her and the older dog outside. I think I'm going to go through with this and purchase her brother this week. He should be ready by june 11th. |

My current girl had only black around her eyes and its now a faint grey that isnt even noticeable. but this lil dude seems to have a full fledge mask in the making, or taking. Not sure yet. |

| He's very cute. I think a certain amount of his mask will stay. Around his eyes will most likely stick around and some of the bar should remain as he ages, but it might lighten up and some of the lines may thin. _________________ |

| He is adorable! I can't tell from the pics, but is he black/white (dilute black white) or a grey/white? I thought I was a pretty good judge of how masks eventually will look...until I got Kohdi, haha, I never in a million years thought his mask would turn out the way it did. Assuming he is grey/white, I think his line on the forehead will stay, bar will pretty much stay, eyes can be tricky, I'm gonna go with about 1/4 staying, the rest still there but lightening up to where you kinda only see it upclose (kinda similar to my Mishka) but hey, he may keep the whole thing too, lol. Congratulations on your new pup |
