| We don't get rain often here; we don't get thunderstorms very often. At the moment we have a real boomer going and I have one dog, Sasha, hiding in the corner and Avalanche is literally right under my chair.
Sasha doesn't seem to really mind the rain, but when I went out to let her back in after she wanted a potty call, she was under the back porch steps - we'd had a couple of real boomers close!!
Rain is nice, thunder is scary, and now we've got some good sized hale to go along with it... _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Ain't gonna lie Al...we had Noah's ark last night. about 12:15 am it rained about 4 inches in under an hour, maybe under a half hour. Wind, hail, lightening, thunder. Sofie is more afraid of the shop vac we had to use than the storm, but in reality we really just got the rain, seen worse storms here than last night, but the ferocity of rain like we had last night, had never experienced that here before. We had at least that much on Wednesday evening in 2 separate storms, so, yea we are getting some rain. |

| The weather finally settled down about sundown (9:00PM here) and the pups settled down and I could get up without looking to see who I was going to be stepping.
Sasha wanted to go out on the front porch - she's been sleeping out there - but even she wanted back in; Avalanche is curled up like it's cold and Sasha's on the pad in her corner. Chilly rain - it's 65 outside, so chilly for our blood.
And just to let everyone pick on me, we probably got between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch of rain - and that's a lot at one time out here!! Renee, send me some of yours, would you please? 4 inches of rain at one time here would literally flood the roads and we'd be housebound for a couple of days till it dried out. The foot of real dirt we have on top of the calliche that lies underneath doesn't soak up much water and then it just runs - everywhere!!!! _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| We had storms roll through yesterday also. Kenzi isn't bothered by storms but Keno is a little nervous. He paces a lot and lives in the hall where there are no windows. As a dog that used to be purely outside before we got him I can only assume storms at his old place really put him in a bad way. For the most part we ignore him. Don't want to comfort him and make him think that there is any reason for him to act the way that he does. _________________ |

Ami had started to get better with storms - he still rings the bell at the first sound of thunder but just goes to our bed and stays there until it's done. BUt, after Sunday, I dunno...we were all in the kitchen, Ami included, and the rain started with a huge thunderclap. Startled everyone - most jumped and gasped. I screamed. Ami bolted. So we shall see what happens with the next one |

| Apparently i slept through a thunderstorm that went through about 03:000 AM Now that's really weird, the dogs didn't wake me up and the thunder didn't. I did watch a light show over the mountains as I was going to sleep - great watching big long lightning strikes when they're 15 - 20 miles away.
Amy, yeh, I had one of those too ... I think we had a lightening strike behind the trailer but a ways off. Enough to get me out of my chair to see what was happening. The last time we had a storm go through we had a couple of fires start so I wanted to make sure the rain kept the fire out.
Sasha isn't too overly concerned about the thunder or rain; Avalanche is terrified. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Miya could care less, Sofie is more of a nervous dog compared to Miya, so like Jenn,. I just ignore Sofie and make it out as no big deal. She is still a puppy, so thinking with us acting like no big deal, she will get over her nervousness.
Al, we have similar to you, about a foot of dirt then calliche, in some areas of our property. We have so many places here that have low water crossing signs (think that is what they are called) and flooding is a risk almost every time there is rain. The last 2 storms came from the west and we have a dip in our yard, in which we call it a shallow ravine, and you can see the grass pushed over, laying flat from how fast the water flowed there. calling for storms all week. And I shall post a pic up of the girls swimming later, if they feel inclined to swim, the play area which was bone dry a week ago, is over their heads yesterday, so no wading. |

| I got woke up at 7:30 by some guy knocking on my window - now bear in mind I sleep on the couch in the living room, so he got greeted by me in shorts ... tough!
He was stuck on one of the side roads, where he shouldn't have been in the first place! Called a friend who brought his 4-wheel drive buggy over and we got him out and on the road back to Dallas ... I asked if either he or his wife knew how to drive on mud or ice and got the response that "We're from Dallas!" oh, boy!!!!
I don't do mornings and having someone here before I've even had a cup of coffee is no fun ...
Avalanche looks so bad - he's blowing coat and if I pick up a brush it's a fight so I just pluck tufts and 'scratch' ... _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| I like it when it rains, unless it causes the air to become muggy. I hate that feeling! I just planted more than 100 trees this past month, and I need the rain so they'll survive. I could water them myself, but that's a LOT of water each week. The rain is better.
I bought seedlings from a nursery, but then I discovered my parents (who have 27 wooded acres) always have little trees that grow every spring. They're about two to three feet tall, and that's the perfect height to transplant to my property. As long as they stay in their original dirt, they usually don't experience transplant shock much. This year, I got three maples, one honeysuckle, and one "Christmas" tree. I put that one in the front yard so we can decorate it every winter. |

| Storms scare Baylin....I actually have to dose her with a herbal and chamomile tea or she shakes and wants to sit in my lap. 63Lbs is NOT a lap dog. Next to me is fine but in a storm it is on me or on my head! Bourbon usually loves to be outside in a storm to where I usually have to worry if he will come in when it gets real bad. Last storm was mild but was hail and he stayed out in it catching hail. The one before I thought it was too windy and raining sideways so I went out in it to get him and he tried to play keep away with the umbrella when I slipped. Vlad is in between I do not think he likes to be out in it but he does want to be with Bourbon so he usually comes in and sits at the door watching outside. |

| On Sunday we had our first real storm of spring that i have been home for. Few loud cracks, one that made me jump a little as i was not ready for it. Sierra seemed fine but Javk came looking for me 3 times ( i was up stairs ) he just looked at me, i told him it was ok and he went back downstairs stairs each time. Not sure he was scared or just checking on me. As i lay here in bed i see some flashing light through the window, wonder if its gonna hit us or move on. We had poring rain at 3:40am last night but no sounds with it. _________________ |
