| Hello from Columbia, SC! So I've been posting on here for a month or two, and the forum has answered all my questions so far, although I'm still hoping someone will respond to my request to have a meetup in the area. Puppy needs buddies! Anyway, my boy's name is Mako, pronounced MAH-ko, and he's a Superbowl baby (12 weeks old now). He's very playful and seems to be a pretty quick learner; he knows sit, down, come (when he wants to ), and roll over (though he protests when I ask him to for some reason). I'm also surprised at how well he seems to be doing with house training so far . So this is Mako. I'm not sure how his color might look as he gets older. His reddish color has gotten much more toned down he's gotten a lot more greyish looking hairs popping up. It's really prominent when he's wet. Is it possible he could turn mostly gray? I've seen pictures of red huskies his age who turned into wolf greys later on. Either way, he'll be perfect (Ortho just sneaked in there >.< ) |

| With those liver colored points, he will be some variation of red. My boy is similar with a soft taupe around the eyes and a very dilute red elsewhere... almost an apricot color. Your guy is super cute with that mask. |

| @amymeme , really? I think the ortho said it was safe around pets? Either way, though, I haven't used it yet, and it's for the front yard. He was in the backyard in that pic . Maybe I'll steer clear of using it til he's older. |

| Curiosity got the better of me. Went looking on Ortho sites, no help there. Went into chat with asking if Ortho Home defense Mas was safe around pets and the "Ortho representative" replied "Pets such as dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, etc. should stay out of the treated area until it is thoroughly dry. It poses no health risks if used according to the directions. " but was unable to provide a link to any of their sites that would verify that.
According to their MSDS it was mildly irritating to rabbits and guinea pigs. The only two caveats that I noticed are that it's toxic to fish in limited quantities and of course it's also to fatal to beneficial insects like bees.

| I meant the full jug where he could reach it. My guys LOVE to play with plastic jugs. And there's not much left when they are done. |

| I wasn't suggesting anything, I was just curious. Some garden poisons were extremely dangerous to humans and pets even in very small quantities. I was wondering if Ortho had any statement about safety for kids or pets - and they appear to really have none.
And you northerners can have your weather back! We've been having some really great weather but a blue ( *very* blue ) norther came through this morning early, the winds been kicking up all day at 50mph with gusts to who knows what and the temp keeps dropping. High today 93, high tomorrow 69! humbug!! _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |
