| David, if my math is right she's about 3 months old now. It's difficult to judge her size since there's nothing but grass and ground in the pictures with her. You did say that she started off sickly with you a month ago so I'd expect her to be a little smaller than she should be.
The tear stains you're seeing are (according to the web) common with Pomeranians and not so common with Huskies. On the other hand her muzzle is definitely not a stubby, Pomeranian muzzle. I think this is one of those, "you pays your money and you takes your choice" type answers, sorry
What's your vet say??? In any case, she's still a cute puppy. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Yes. She was really sick when we got her . Last Sunday she turned 8 weeks old . But she is doing really good now. Very playfull and happy pup . We've had her on meds pretty much since we got her, to get rid of all the worms since the breeder never did all this. Vet did say she looked kinda small a week ago when we first took her in. And also she is really furry . And pomeranians usually have a lot of fur like her . That's why we think she might be mixed. |

| i wouldn't base very much of it on her length of coat, my boy Kohdi had a similar coat as a puppy too. I believe Mishka did as well and both mine were extremely tiny at 8 weeks, with small delicate faces (both dogs have puppy pics on page 1 of their scrapbooks) Female huskies are generally much smaller anyways, Id give it awhile before I started contemplating whether she is mixed or not. She reminds me a lot of mine at that age. |

| I'm sorry David, I - for some reason - thought she was 8 weeks a month ago - and that was while I reading your original message.
I'm with Jimmie, give her some time to grow up. She may surprise you and turn into a full sized dog ... _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Ok this puts me at ease a bit! And as far as her tear stains. She was sick since we got her and her eyes were discharging a lot. They have stopped now that we gave her meds and the stains seems to have been going away slowly . |

| It will take time to reverse the effects of her initial neglect. Good quality food and proper vetting and her body will eventually level itself out enough that she will probably surprise you with a nice growth spurt, but it will take time. _________________ |

| There is always the DNA test you can do for her as well to really settle the question. some times you can find deals on them if you google. _________________ |

| Yeah there is that too . Just too much right now. Spent a lot of $$ on medical stuff too to Fix the breeders mistake. So I'll wait a couple months to see if she grows and starts to look like a husky. |

| Some Huskies can be really small. I saw a purebred Siberian Husky at an AKC show in January that weighed around 30 pounds. Very small! I thought she was a puppy until the owner told me she was 3 years old. Being sick can, unfortunately, stunt their growth. I would suggest giving it more time so you can see how her appearance changes, and if you're still really questioning it, there is a DNA kit on Amazon that's about $60. |

| I personally would not put too much faith in any of the DNA products out there. Unless you have money to burn. I would wait until the pup is a year and see how the pup looks according to standards. At a year old most dogs are fully grown and you can then determine what you got. Having a poor start is going to have a huge impact on growth, so feed a healthy food, and make sure the pup sees the vet regularly and I am sure the pup will grow like a weed. Enjoy that don't stay small forever. |

| David <and I' m teasing here> even if he did turn out to be a Pomsky or maybe just a really small Husky, would you take him back? Your interest in the pups welfare seems, to me, such that you'd say "Oh, hell, he's a good mutt anyway you look at him!" _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Just to give you an idea of how small Mishka (female) was at 8 weeks old (and she was never sick, so nothing to hamper her growth...she wasn't a runt either, her brother was just as small as she was) but anyways, if you know what it feels like to lift a cat up, and you know what it's like to pick up a kitten, Mishka was like picking up a kitten, she was all fluff! I could hold her in one hand. |

LOL nope. No way I'd take her back. I love my little fluff ball. I will just have to wait and see a bit more. |

| The DNA tests used to be laughably inaccurate, but in the last 5 or so years, they've really perfected it. They're incredibly accurate now. The one I saw on Amazon will even give you a lineage of your dog letting you know when a specific breed showed up (like if it was a grandparent or great-grandparent). I thought about doing it with my Chihuahua to see if he's really purebred or not. I've had a few people over the years insist he was part Rat Terrier. He's 11 now and I keep telling myself it doesn't really matter because I love him no matter what, but there's a part of me that would really like to know before it's too late. |

| Jessie, they are still horribly inaccurate. I would not spend my hard earned money on any of these tests. And remember that one of those tests, which is the one I think you are mentioning is created by Mars a candy company who has decided to be dog food manufacturer and dna test company. They do show what they say is the dogs supposed lineage. It is a guessing game. There are over 300 dog breeds, the companies that do dna testing do not have all dna strands for every breed. It is a guessing game with what they have. I know people with pure bred dogs with paper lineage, and the test will say some off the wall breed as a grandparent, impossible, I also know of people who have submitted to 2 different companies, and neither company will show even one breed the same. |

| I also think I would give it a little time. It could take some time for her body to feel that it is healthy and start growing. You seem like a good, caring parent to take her and fight to get her well. I am sure she will be a sweet, loyal dog either way. I'm sure she appreciates all the care and love you have shown her in her little life. She is very fluffy, but she is so cute! <3 |

| I definitely would not say horribly inaccurate, they have room to grow its true but I knew Cora was a Husky GSD mix and that's exactly what came back, I have about 30 friends through real life and social media who have done it for fun (Dna tests) including purebred dogs and they all (purebreds) came back correct. I think you are talking about wisdom panel which is yes under Mars Candy company. I'd say they are pretty good now. I have suggested wisdom panel to a lot of my friends and they are all doing it now, their library keeps growing. I mean if they are just guessing why wouldn't they say all of Cora on one side is Husky? But the added mixed breed. |

| Zoe, I think you got lucky, you truly, out of probably a hundred or more people that I have known do the wisdom, got a good match from wisdom. This was pure breeds, as well as mixed breeds. What information besides your name and address and Cora's name do you provide to wisdom? To be honest I have never asked anyone who had done a wisdom what type of info you provide. One thing I do know for certain is that the dna markers for huskies, belgians, gsds, are probably spot on for this test, where as you get a lesser known breed may not come out right, so for instance on the husky side it says mixed breed, yet on the other side they still are mixed breeds but could pin point gsd and belgian. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. I also have a neighbor who did 2 tests from 2 different companies, and got two entirely different breeds for her mixed breed dog. He looks the size of a cocker spaniel, in fact I asked her if he was part cocker, and she said according to both tests he was not, and they were some off the wall breeds.
I am wondering about my questions, and I obviously know you do a check swab, so is there any information that you give about Cora besides her name and check swab?
ETA:Zoe I hope you took my post as out of curiosity, not negative at all, I am more curious on this particular test, since they all seem a little different in what they ask for you to provide. TIA |

TIA That's unfortunate that so many of you friends got bad results but for my friends it was quite the opposite every single purebred came back with it saying purebred and most of the mixes made a lot of sense. They ask you to provide what you think your dog is but I told my dad to mark that he didn't know for the most honest dna results, another thing that could happen to you friends is how well they collected the dna I know I really wiped Cora's cheek as well as possible. I also told my friends to mark either they didn't know or only one of the breeds their dog displays. Oh no don't worry I didn't think it was negative that's just your experience I just wanted Jessie to know that myself and my friends have had super accurate results from wisdom. I might just try another brand one day and see what it says! |
