I figured i would post here instead of the hiking thread as the videos are more entertaining!
this was last month. So this was the first time we were out in over a year i think, and it was only my 3-4th time on X-Country skis. I still need much practice on the down hill sections as with no metal edges it is hard to slow down and turning is not easy on a narrow trail, so falling stopped me 95% of the time. I was pretty banged up by the end of the day. I also think i need shorter skis as these were my grandmoms and she was much taller then me.
Heading up the mostly flat trail we did ok, once we reached the end and had to turn around to more of a down slope is when it all went to hell. I was picking up speed and spooking S&J to the point they would stop on the trail and i would either ski past them or fall instead of taking them out. I gave up and detached them from my self and just x country skied instead of skijoring. It worked out, they ran ahead of me and would wait till i caught up. We need more practice but i was still happy we got out and had some fun.
Staring out
Where i gave up having them attached to me
Where i almost took out Sierra
Our gear
Jack waiting
Happy Sierra

Jennifer, I love it!!!! I've taken two of my pups out a couple times years ago and it was the best thing. (The drought came and no snow and now that there was snow... long story as to why not this year). Anywho, I remember after the first attempt, I told my hubby that it was more fun than downhill skiing and I'd done that all my life. It was like a mix of downhill skiing utopia and cuddling my pups. What more could you ask for? I'm new to the site but far from new to huskies so I was just browsing around when I saw your must read post (skijouring is must read in my book). This past weekend, my brand spanking new rescue, Maya, looked like she won the lotto when my daughter ran with her for a bit. So now that spring is sort of here, I am going to tune up the mushing scooter and teach her how to mush with my Kai pup (the natural born musher). I was giddy with excitement that I could scoot with her after she's spayed and healed. So another bit of mush waiting but I will live vicariously through you. Marie

What is it about those girls and slowing down right in front of a person? lol. Kenzi sometimes gets run over when we run too. Not good enough on skis so she's safe for now.
